You are 100% correct that financial results may vary if you lose a large customer which is why the company pushes reps very hard on the metrics and habits that will ensure you gain new clients and insulate yourself from the negative impact of losing a valued customer. Your manager should be holding their team accountable during good times and bad. If that message is inconsistent, your frustration is understandable. Since 2009 we have offered an increasingly generous base salary plus an incentive package that we feel is fair. However, if you feel your goals are unrealistic, I strongly urge you to reach out to your manager and discuss your concerns and what you feel is more in line with your expectations. We are here to make you successful and while coaching is sometimes difficult to hear, it is intended to help you to improve and become as successful as you wish to be. I hope you stick with it.
