Pros

Great manager, opportunity for growth if you want it and look for it. Competitive pay, don’t take work home. Evidence based practice and providers are supported with robust education and legal dept. Challenges and ability to utilize all skills, except for some procedures not offered, but we see and manage all primary care conditions .

Kontras

Hours are not flexible, you have to fulfill clinic needs and some want to leave early/take lunch when they want but we have set hours. You are usually solo provider in clinic and rarely have nurse staff to support. This means you need to be a strong provider who enjoys working autonomously and can speak up for yourself when you need help . Expected to own your clinic and manage wait room which is not for everyone. Busy!! Be prepared to work.

Pros

very few positives for this company and position

Kontras

hostile & verbally abusive patients, management not supportive, low hourly pay, below 2.75% annual raises. As a solo NP in the clinic, you perform all job duties from janitorial, registration clerk, med asst., payment clerk, clinic manager, stocker, order clerk, lab tech, facilities manager to NP. The expectations are unrealistic and unattainable. If you reach or exceed the set goals or provider metrics; the goals are increased. No provider support for credentialing. All managers work remotely and avoid in clinic work and accountability. You cannot utilize your NP license freely. All clinic services have a set guideline, medications, treatment, etc. You cannot deviate from this. The workload is overwhelming. You will be laid off or hours reduced with little to no notice. No opportunity for advancement, toxic corporate culture is geared to make $$ and bonuses for managers and executives. The patient facing NP's are overworked, underpaid, and quit due to burnout and constant negative criticism from managers and patients. Max available hours to work weekly is 30. Weekends, evenings, and holidays are mandatory. If patients don't get what they want, even if it medically unsafe; they call corporate to complain and post horrible and untrue accounts of their clinic experiences as retaliation. The pivot to Primary Care and away from urgent care is failing miserably. CVS is closing Minute Clinics left and right.
