Management loves to suggest a lateral move to “gain experience” in other areas. Don’t reward ambitious people who want to move up in the company. Instead they just say “aw that’s great, please do a lateral move where we won’t increase your pay whatsoever, and you’ll need to sit for another 2 years before you get a promotion.” Gotta love corporate politics.
