They have this beautiful phrase 'Your transportation allowance is "embedded" in your salary.' which simply means they don't pay transportation allowance. Contracts from city hall, daily each ALT is roughly paid at roughly 22,000 but working with these leeches they only give you about 8000 a day, siphoning from your 24,000 the remaining of it. Moreover, ALTS are also suppose to have a summer and year end Bonuses, which they dont give you. As human rights the city also gives 5 summer paid holiday to all teachers of a city, but ALTs dont receive them. Most ALT teachers that work here are new and inexperienced, the longest like 4 or 5 years living in Japan. In ratio, some exceptions like 1 - 3 teachers are more than 5 years. If you have a husband or a wife that works full time in other places, and this is like a part time money for you maybe it will work, but if you are the main provider, and have a child or so, it's impossible. Here is why: 60,000 apartment or house loan 40,000 utilities (electric, water, gas, phone) 30,000 if you have kids, school expenses 30,000 if you have a car loan 40,000 for quarterly residential tax 30,000 for car tax 30,000 if you have a house tax, or renewal apartment contract IT'S IMPOSSIBLE.
