Pros

-Solid, wonderful people in the trenches -Salary was above average -Decent product mix (when you could get it) -Product specialists and buyers are highly intelligent and know what they are going...a joy to work with

Kontras

-Upper management, starting at branch manager and general managers - incompetent doesn't even begin to describe the utter lack of skill set and leadership ability that defines these people. They have ascended to these positions because of politics within the company NOT competence. -Customers in the market HATE Bluelinx and will only buy from BL if it's their last resort. -BlueLinx has destroyed the Georgia-Pacific name -There are a thousand more negatives but it's just too depressing to add here.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. Good to hear of your appreciation for our great people, above average compensation, product mix and specialist/buy intelligence. As for the cons, I'm sorry to hear of your assessment of the company's leadership. We feel that we have been able to build an excellent leadership team with diverse experiences and expertise to lead us into the future. As always, we remain very interested in any specific feedback you have that would help us to continue to improve. Lastly, we began our business in 1954,...changing our name to BlueLinx 12 years ago in 2004. We don't believe we would have been successful over the past 62 years without great people, and this will remain a core component of our strategy moving forward. We hope you are able to find a company and role that you will enjoy and I'm sure you join us in our disappointment that BlueLinx wasn't a good fit for you.

Not too many. They do provide logo shirts etc.

No clear direction. Local leadership is not honest nor transparent. No annual reviews. Feedback is rare and untimely. The 80/20 business model for customer loyalty is shortsighted and surreptitious. Local GM manipulates quarterly/annual goals and gross margins effecting commissions. High turnover with Territory Managers. Conflicting sales goals and programs. Experience is not valued. Executive leadership is focused exclusively on bottom line. The running joke is instead of "Delivering What Matters" they are "Talking About What Matters". Too many generals and not enough sergeants. Some General Managers profess to be "Servant Leaders" however they are disingenuous. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you really need the job, and then, don't plan on a long and rewarding career.
