Pros
I’ve worked for start-ups in the past that promote a great work-life balance for employees, but Affectiva is the first that makes good on that promise. From the top down, leadership sets a great example of prioritizing time with family, taking vacation/personal time, and just maintaining an overall healthy balance. Affectiva also provides great employee benefits (401k match, unlimited PTO), keeps a kitchen stocked full of lots of great healthy snacks, organizes lots of fun team activities, and provides weekly catered lunch.
On top of all of that, the culture is truly beyond compare. No individual is too senior to roll up their sleeves and help however they’re needed, and every role is an essential part of the company’s success and is made to feel that way. Employees are always encouraged to share their ideas, and to pursue any opportunities that are of interest to them. This is an incredibly hardworking group that is always looking for new and exciting ways to push the boundaries and continue to innovate.
Kontras
Not much privacy in an open concept space, but definitely allows for better collaboration. Also, lots of conference space, phone booths and breakout areas if people need a quiet working space.
