My position allowed us to be on-site, hybrid, or remote. The work culture has improved over the last year, as the Activities Committee was finally formed (by employees, not HR) and activities are now conducted quarterly.
Kontras
The hours were challenging because we had many global external suppliers in different time zones, which required my position to be available from 7 am to midnight and sometimes later. We didn't have enough resources in my department, and even with requests to hire staff for mundane tasks (generating shipping requests, engineering change orders in the PLM system, purchase orders, etc.), my manager refused to hire anyone, year after year. So, we were required to do this work.
As ASP used to be a part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, it is still in the same building along with the J&J operating companies. Unfortunately, J&J has activities almost every other week, along with a cafeteria and gym that we are unable to use.
Senior management (VP and above) and even HR are disconnected from day-to-day operations because they all work remotely. COVID is over, but none of the VPs work on-site, nor do many Directors. Seeing J&J's activities through the window is always disappointing, but with senior leadership all working from home, they never see it and how it brings down employees' morale.
