Senior Fashion Designer and Merchandiser

Location: Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Working hour: 8:00am to 5:45pm (Monday to Friday)

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Fiffy Sdn. Bhd. as a Senior Fashion Designer & Merchandiser. Based in Masai Johor, this full-time role will see you lead the design and merchandising efforts for the company's fashion lines. You'll be responsible for creating innovative, on-trend designs that captivate customers and drive sales.

What you'll be doing

1. Fashion Design

Design Development

• Responsible for end-to-end design development of baby and toddler wear (basic and seasonal collections)
• Create design sketches, tech packs, and specifications to guide sample and bulk production
• Select suitable fabrics, trims, and colors according to brand standards, functionality, and safety requirements

Collaboration and Coordination

• Coordinate with in-house and outsourced designers/suppliers for sample development, lab dips, and fitting sessions
• Work with the marketing team on styling for product shoots, catalogs, and POSM display needs
• Provide creative input for VM planning and new product launches

Quality & Safety

• Ensure design accuracy, comfort, and compliance with babywear quality and safety standards

2. Merchandising

Supplier & Production Coordination

• Liaise with garment suppliers and factories on sample development, production booking, and delivery timelines
• Track sample development stages (proto, SMS, pre-production, TOP) and ensure deadlines are met
• Assist in solving production-related issues (fabric shortage, spec variation, workmanship defects) with suppliers

Tech Packs and Specifications

• Prepare and review tech packs, workmanship specifications, and measurement charts to ensure accuracy for bulk production
• Coordinate fitting sessions, record comments, and follow up with suppliers for corrections until approval

Costing & Fabric Management

• Check and verify product costings (fabric consumption, trims, labor, overhead) to ensure target GP% and price positioning
• Monitor fabric/trims sourcing, lab dips, strike-offs, and bulk approval process to meet production requirements

Quality Control

• Work closely with the QC team to ensure products meet FIFFY babywear quality and safety standards

Documentation & Records

• Maintain accurate merchandising documentation (purchase requisitions, supplier quotations, costing sheets, approval records)

Seasonal Planning & Product Range

• Support in seasonal line planning and product range balancing (basic vs seasonal, unisex vs gendered, price tiers)

What we're looking for

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Fashion, Textile, or a related field
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in fashion design and/or merchandising
• Proficiency in CN, EN, and MY (spoken and written) to communicate with suppliers and stakeholders
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office
• Strong teamwork, communication, and multitasking abilities
