Working at Inverto was one of the most exhausting and dysfunctional professional experiences I’ve ever had.
The company constantly talks about “development” and “growth,” but the reality is that nobody actually wants to coach you. You are expected to arrive fully polished and operating at maximum efficiency from day one, regardless of your background or experience level. There is little patience for learning curves, and asking for guidance often feels like you are admitting incompetence rather than trying to improve.
The culture is incredibly unforgiving. The second you make a mistake, even a minor one, leadership is quick to throw you under the bus to protect themselves in front of clients and upper management. Instead of constructive feedback or support, blame gets pushed downward immediately. It creates an environment where people are more focused on self-preservation than teamwork.
The work-life balance is brutal. Long hours are normalized to an unhealthy degree, and constant last-minute requests make it nearly impossible to disconnect. There is an unspoken expectation that your personal life should always come second to client demands.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the travel situation. Despite being aligned with the Brooklyn office, I was expected to commute to Chicago and front travel costs out of pocket upfront. For a company that demands so much from employees, the lack of logistical and financial consideration was honestly absurd.
Overall, the environment felt deeply transactional and unsupportive. Rather than investing in employees and helping them grow, the culture seems built around squeezing as much output as possible from people while offering very little support in return.
I left with stronger stress tolerance, but also with the clear realization that no job is worth constantly feeling expendable.
