Network Engineer
Reporting to the Manager, Network and Telecom Infrastructure, this position will be a part of a strong team that works closely with internal colleagues and vendors to maximize network and telecommunications efficiency, consistency, and availability. This position will be responsible for working on the installation, configuration, and maintenance of global large-scale network infrastructure.
This position can be based in home office or in our office in Westhausen, Germany.
Job Duties:
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Install, support and maintain hardware and software infrastructure according to best practices, including routers, switches, wireless LAN controllers, and firewalls.
- Perform network security design and integration.
- Diagnose problems and solve issues often under time constraints.
- Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.
- Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems and assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.
- Manage network projects from installation to completion.
- Work closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices.
Critical Skills and Experience:
- B.S. or B.A. in a technical field or relevant combination of education and experience (may consider multiple years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
- Multiple years of expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and monitoring applications.
- Familiarity with network monitoring / troubleshooting, systems such as Solarwinds, LiveAction, and Logic Monitor.
- 7+ years Networking and Communications Administration.
- IP Routing Protocols: BGPv4, OSPF, EIGRP.
- LAN Technologies: Ethernet, VLANs, Trunking, VTP, STP, HSRP, VRRP, and EtherChannel.
- WAN / MAN technologies: MPLS, T3, Fiber, Metro-E.
- Wireless technologies: Cisco and Aruba wireless cofigurations
- Security: IPSec VPN, GRE Tunnel, L2TP Tunnel, VPDN, ACL, AAA.
- TCP/IP: IP Addressing, Subnetting, Route Summarization & Redistribution, NAT/PAT, QoS.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or above certification strongly preferred.
- Occasionally travels required.
- Fluent in German and English.
