About this opportunity

We are hiring an experienced investigator or investigations counsel in Ericsson’s Corporate and Government Investigations (CGI) group. CGI is responsible for the investigation of potential legal and compliance violations within Ericsson and is a critical support in ensuring the effectiveness and credibility of the Company’s ethics and compliance program, defending the Company’s commitment to integrity, building trust with stakeholders, including enforcement authorities, and ultimately driving the company’s sustainable success.

This position supports global investigations, with particular focus on the investigation and reporting of matters to the U.S. Department of Justice and Ericsson’s compliance monitor. The role reports to the head of global investigations, who reports to the Head of CGI. The position is listed as located in Sweden, but we will also consider candidates in Europe. The position will be hybrid (combination of in office and remote) depending on the location.

What you will do

• Give advice in connection with investigations, particularly complex internal investigations, investigations by government authorities, and cases relevant to the Audit & Compliance Committee
• Conduct internal investigations of reported Code of Business Ethics violations in a forensically sound, robust, fair and timely manner, and in compliance with relevant laws (including employment and data privacy laws)
• Support reporting of matters under Paragraph 13 of Ericsson’s Plea Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and Ericsson's external compliance monitor
• Determine the need for and maintain attorney client privilege; conduct investigations under attorney-client privilege where applicable and use internal resources or external counsel
• Draft clear written reports, assist others with report drafting, and draft presentations for internal and external audiences
• Inform relevant decision-makers of the status of investigation findings on a timely basis and present summaries of investigations
• Provide guidance on the preservation and collection of relevant data, the timely review and production of data, the tracking of materials sought, collected and produced, as appropriate
• Engage and supervise external counsel to provide subject matter expertise on key legal issues
• Act with integrity, objectivity and fairness

You will bring

• 10+ years experience handling investigations
• Experience handling complex investigations, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption issues
• Government investigations experience, including interacting with regulators, particularly in the United States
• Demonstrated ability to independently handle and manage complex projects, as well as lead multiple projects at one time
• Comfort with ambiguity
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically with regard to scoping, handling and managing large projects to resolution
• Fluency in English
• Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
• Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses

Preferred qualifications:

• A law degree from an accredited law school and admission and good standing in a state bar (or equivalent outside of the U.S.)
• Government investigations experience, including experience interacting with regulators, particularly in the United States
• Experience working with or under a monitor
• Foreign language fluency is a plus
