I will be very frank in this review. Recently I got interviewed at Vmware for SMTS position. I had in total 6 rounds of technical interview. In all the rounds interviewers mainly focused on following areas : Multithreading (Scheduler, Pub Sub pattern etc.) , Datastructures and Algorithms, Problem solving capabilities and core programming concepts. I must say all rounds went well and Had really good discussion. Howsoever the questions were, I enjoyed answering them. Now, I don't understand one single point. Why do these Hr's, who are so polite before you start the interview process, immediately start ghosting you after you are done with interviews ? I mean seriously Why ? Is it really required ? I mean, They don't even bother to give you any kind of feedback and neither bother to reach you out to you or at least reply to you. Why? Haven't we both invested our time in this whole process ? Doesn't candidate deserve to know what happened ? Or is this in culture to not respect people as humans ? No wonder why people don't respect HR once they are on-boarded. I really don't care and have never cared whether i get selected or rejected, but what I have always cared about is feedback. I have no shame in admitting that i was not selected in Amazon once, but what I liked about them is they came back to say that they can't hire me and provided a proper feedback. That's where a company makes an impression. But these guys. Ahhh. I was reading about these things happening in other reviews but was not sure to believe them. But now I believe them. Improvement area : Though I have no complains from interviewers but one thing I want to say, whenever you are asking your candidate to turn on his camera please make sure that you are turning on your camera as well, Or either extend your apology if by any reason you can't turn it on. Otherwise It sounds really very rude and disrespecting when this happens. And in Vmware, It happened in all the rounds . No one even cared to turn on their camera. Not even manager. Advice: Try to train your interviewers to try and find out the strengths that any candidate possess, instead of spending time in finding out their weakness. It would really help VMWare in long run and would definitely improve the working environment in Bangalore office, that I can see in all the reviews, is a mess right now. "Its never a rotten Farm, There are always a few bad apples, giving the impression that the whole Farm is rotten"

  • - Some DS questions (medium level) - Lots of Multithreading questions (Create a Task Manager, Create a Scheduler, Implement Producer consumer, How async await works internally, what is Context synchronization, ConfigureAwait, and few other Multithreading scenarios) - Javascript core concepts, SQL query, Design API Throttling, Design your own PUB SUB Pattern - Few core programming language concepts, like finding output, improving code implementation, finding issues in code, etc.

The interview Process involved two stages: 1. Technical interview (1h): the interviewer asked me technical question and he was quite friendly during the entire session. 2. Virtual Onsite interview (4h): they scheduled this interview 1 month after the first one and this is when the process becomes a complete mess. They give you two dates, but they don't confirm the exact time until two weeks before. Also two weeks before the second interview and after confirming the dates they sent me another email asking me if I applied for the role on their platform, and I was totally confused about this question, because they don't even know what candidates they are interviewing. I was interviewed by three engineers: the first one was quite friendly, however they use a Virtual Machine that you have to use via VNC and they advice you to install a client before the interview. They client the recommend doesn't work properly and we spent more than 10 minutes to just make it work without luck and we ended up using the one on my Mac. The virtual machine can barely run Chrome and everything is very laggy and every time you have to switch between screens is a complete nightmare. With the second interviewer things get even worse. First of all, the interviewer doesn't know who I am because apparently she read someone else's CV and she didn't even ask for my name (someone else who is Hispanic and from that point I felt discriminated). During this pair programming session she keeps saying that she doesn't want to type because all the keys are messed up because of the VM (oh really?!). The last part of this interview is with a manager and it feels like it's the typical HR interview where you have behavioral questions and the interviewer was not friendly at all and when I mentioned a competitor technology the interviewer felt attacked and activated the defensive mode. I sent an email after two weeks to get updated about the process but no answer, and after 3 weeks I received an answer without any feedback and just saying that there is a candidate with a better skillset. I hope you don't treat your employees in the same way as the candidates.

Pros: There were 2 rounds post which there was no response. The first round was about my work experience and a guesstimate to judge basic analytical skills. The second round was technical. Asked 4-5 questions related to SQL and Python each. Both the interviewers were polite and cleared doubts if any. Cons: The process is very slow. The recruiters take time to respond and often they take more than a week. I was confident that my rounds went well. But post the second round there was no contact at all. The recruiters didn't respond to the mail. There was no closure provided whatsoever. Being one of the big organisations, at least have an automated mailer to let the candidate know about the status.
