Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 2 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im August 2016 bei Spotcap (Berlin).

Vorstellungsgespräch

I applied online, they contacted me within a few days. As a first step I had to write an expert column for Spotcap CEO Toby Triebel to be publish on TechCrunch or any similar news site. Later I had an interview with an HR representative and the Global Head of Communications. The company is active in 3 countries - so in this case global refers to only 3 countries.

The interviews focused on questions like what measures would I take, what would I do differently, how would I achieve this or that goal. When I gave general answers, as in my experience which tools work well for what goals, they both pushed me to be specific and tell them exact ideas tailored for the needs of Spotcap. Pretty much like as if I would have been already hired and paid. It felt quite unusual, but I played along. Both interviewers were very positive and encouraging during the interviews, but just a few days later I received a no.

This is when I went to check the CV of the Global Head of Communications in detail and I found that she has about 3-4 years experience in communications. I have 7+ years of international experience, and yet they made me go through the entire recruitment process, 2 interviews and writing a fully usable expert column while it must have been all the way obvious that I won't be selected for this role reporting to somebody junior to me.
