Assessment day split into 2 individual tasks that test your ability to solve maths problems up to GCSE level, an interview focused on one of the tasks and a more traditional HR interview, followed by a small group activity.

After the initial application there was an online test which had interesting (and quite fun) styles of questions such as working out what method someone used to get the wrong answer to a maths question. Then there was the online interview, I was given questions and then answered them on webcam but wasn't talking to an actual person, just a screen. I passed this stage and went to an assessment day which was enjoyable and the company was really cool but I didn't end up getting the job. The day consisted of three written tests and two group tasks (finding the problem in a production line and making a revision video on quadratic equations). They gave me feedback afterwards which was very helpful.

Vorstellungsgespräch

Step 1: Quick, simple online application
Step 2: Two 30 min online assessments - one maths, one Sparx-specific (based on teaching children)
Step 3: Record video answers to a webcam. There is no option to re-record or have time to think over your answers so treat it like a face to face interview.
Step 4: Assessment centre. Sparx paid for my travel to Exeter and also a hotel the night before which was good of them. Most people at this stage were from Oxford or Cambridge and Sparx seem to value academic ability over most other skills so be prepared for that. The assessment centre consisted of a group business role-play, two written tests, and an exercise where we had to design and present a revision video aimed at GCSE students. Overall it was a tiring but good experience and we were well looked after.
Step 5: I didn't personally, but a close friend of mine got to this stage which consisted of a presentation, lesson plan, and 1:1 interview.

I submitted a CV and cover letter online, then did two maths tests. After that, I took a video interview, and was then selected for an assessment centre where I had two written tests (on lesson planning and writing good questions) and two group tasks (one solving a problem as a team, and one making a short presentation in the style of a GCSE revision video).

Did 2 online numeracy and logic tests.
This included easy mathematics and logic problems, as well as sections on finding mistakes or possible mistakes in questions and answers.

Afterwards is a one-sided video interview, where you have to record answers to around 8 questions.

For this position you submit your CV and complete some generic written such as "Why Sparx and why this role". After this I had to complete ~80 minute test (18 questions) where I was given a set of data and was told to analyse it and extract information from the data set - If I remember correctly, they recommended using Python or MATLAB, or another language (which I can't remember what it was).

In the end I did not meet the qualifying criteria for the competency test so my application was not progressed further.

Started with online application, which included submitting your CV.
Then came online tests which were a mix of GCSE maths questions, and spotting problems with some questions (where children can make mistakes on the questions).
Then came a one sided video interview.
Then came an assesment day, where you do 2 indevidual tests, and 2 group exercises.
I did not progress after this stage.

I sent in my cv and then was required to complete two tests. These tests seemed appropriate for the role, you had to look at a maths question (gcse type level) and figure out how the incorrect answer given was obtained. The second tests was similar, namely you had to check questions to see if they could be solved correctly using an incorrect method. Overall I can see how those would be important skills to have and I didn't pass this stage of the interview.

Vorstellungsgespräch

Initial application form followed by a competency data analysis test analyzing a given data set in a choice of MATLAB, R or Python. After this there was a pre-recorded video interview using HireVue. I did not make it past this stage. Sparx took a week to get back to me on each stage of the application.

After sending an application, I received an online test where I had to solve math problems on high-school level. After that there was a video interview. Assessment day consisted of few individual and few group excercises (including a group presentation).
