It was more like a conversation at a bar when you meeting someone. Just to clarify, not a date, the conversation flowed. There wasn't a moment of awkward silence.

    After a brief phone call from one of their in-house recruiters, I was called to come in for an in person interview. The interview took place in a small room off to the side of a shared lobby. It was a very impersonal touch. I was interviewed by 2 members of management and the same recruiter. Nothing in particular stood out about the interview as it was pretty standard with template questions around personality, leadership, "how would you approach, handle, resolve xyz".

    The recruiter who told me I would hear something back within a few days. That few days turned out to be almost a month and even that had to be prompted with a phone call and an e-mail. When we as job applicants go in for these face-to-face interviews, we expect that the company is within the final stretch of making a hiring decision. Everyone's time should be maximized and that just didn't happen here. It is that company as well as that recruiters job to initiate and keep track of the communication thereafter.

    SaleCycle should improve its hiring process, turnaround time, and drastically improve communication with its job applicants.

    The interview process: I first had a telephone interview with an informative and personable HR recruiter. Three days later I interviewed in person with the recruiter and two other employees.

    Initial application was easy enough, but was emailed a few weeks later to say the role was on hold, fair enough.

    Got an email a month or so after that to say the role was back live, then a few weeks after that was told before they progressed my application they wanted me to state my salary expectations. Not a great impression that money is the first thing they want to consider before they even qualify me against the job (could have advertised the salary but that would be too straightforward).

    After that I get a telephone interview request and informed the party well in advance of my availability, only to be left waiting and told they couldn't do that any more. At that point, as well as checking some of the reviews on here, I decided Salecycle wasn't for me. A shame really.

    8. Sept. 2017 – Head of Employee Engagement

    Hi

    Thanks for your feedback which I believe we may have discussed between us at the time when we interviewed back in the Spring this year.

    We initially put the role on hold as we didn't want to take anyone on without being absolutely certain that there was enough work for them to do. Once this had been reviewed and the decision was made to open up the vacancy we were overwhelmed with the amount of applications that we received within a short space of time.

    I think you may be including the time that the vacancy was on hold in your calculation of how long the process took, which isn't really a true reflection, although it did take longer than I would have ideally liked.

    We ensure that all candidates are treated in the same way and, because of the large volume, we asked all our candidates if their salary expectations were within the brackets that we had for the role (we included the exact figures on our email, but it isn't appropriate to include them here).

    We did this so we didn't waste anyone's time if their salary expectations were going to be too high. There would have been nothing worse than going through a process, being offered a job and then not being able to accept it based on the salary offered. Better to be upfront we feel.

    Those candidates who were happy with the salary brackets were then contacted to arrange telephone interviews and subsequently face to face interviews. The availability of the hiring manager was given to all candidates and the slots were allocated on a first come first served basis allowing appropriate notice for everyone involved.

    We weren't able to confirm any short notice requests for interview or responses recieved after the the first stage of interviews commenced, given the volume of applications and quick turnaround we were looking for. I can only apologise that you feel we are not the right choice for you, please feel free to get in touch if you would like to meet up and discuss your concerns further.

    I accept your point about advertising the salary which may have avoided some of the delay and we will definitely look at whether this is something we think will improve our candidate experience in the future.
