Vorstellungsgespräch

Confusing. Convoluted. Unclear.

These are a few key descriptions. At no point in the 5+ weeks of interviewing did I understand where I was in the process. Only during the final interview did I learn who I'd be reporting to, what the day-to-day role entailed, and what the KPI's were. I asked these questions at every juncture, but each interview "step" is a canned activity designed to test a candidate's skills in one particular area. In most cases, the person running this activity doesn't even work in the same department -- let alone role -- as the position being interviewed for. From a talent evaluation perspective, they do a good job. But from a humanizing perspective, Ritual totally drops the ball. Based on the feedback I've read/heard from current employees, this shouldn't be surprising.

I left this process so disappointed in the company's professionalism that I've gone from a product evangelist to a non-user.

Run, don't walk, away from this opportunity.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this note. I can assure you we will be using this to build a better interview experience for candidates interviewing with Ritual in the future. In order to vet specific skills we draw from a very large interviewer pool - it’s not uncommon to speak with people from across different teams at Ritual. As a distributed team and a flat org, we do see a benefit to meeting people from different geographies and teams as you gain a better sense of how the pieces fit together and our culture as a whole. Role clarity is something we also feel is essential to being successful at Ritual and our team works incredibly hard to understand the day to day realities of a role as we work through the intake process. We’re always happy to answer any questions you have about the role and if we don’t know the answer we have a great team we can consult with to find out. We’d be more than happy to sit down with the team to see how we can ensure this happens as early on as possible with all candidates we speak with and revisited throughout every stage of the process.
