    I have just had the most extraordinary telephone conversations with a "Recruitment Consultant", during which, the consultant spent the entire time trying to dissuade me from progressing. Clearly they were on some kind of agenda. I had to cut the conversation short, out of pure embarrassment, particularly when they were asking the same questions over, in the hope of finding a reasonably legitimate reason, not to continue.
    By their own admission, I was more than capable of fulfilling this role, and requested several times during the conversation, that I wish to progress.
    Very bizarre and questionable behaviour.

    Applied online and got a call the same day inviting me to an interview the next week, which was with two members of their team and mainly asked about me as a person, my ambitions, heroes, and what motivates me.
    After this I was invited back to a second interview with a more senior member of the team who asked pretty much the same kind of questions.
    I heard a couple of days after this that I had not been successful in the interview stage.

    Interview first of all with a regional manager then a second stage interview with one of the MDs, Jeff Leng. Questions were based largely around personal attributes as opposed to qualifications. In retrospect, a few of the questions were odd or inappropriate. I.e. What do your parents do? Did you go to a private school?

    My main reason for the negative review is that even though I had been through two interviews, they did not contact me about the outcome - by email, phone etc. - even when I chased them up on it.

    This is obviously terrible business practice for any employer, especially for a recruitment firm.

    Two interviews with a few strange questions about if your school was private or comprehensive followed by a muted reaction, and personal questions about what my parents do for employment, as if that should have any bearing on my own personal abilities?

    After a phone interview, a face to face interview, a letter of intent to be written and a final face to face interview the regional manager looked me right in the eye and said "we will have a meeting and let you know by tomorrow, don't worry we aren't the sort of company to just leave you hanging without knowing, we know how hard that can be".

    Needless to say it is 4 weeks later and after following up after the interview, still no reply.

    The company claims to base itself around candidate service, yet for their own recruitment they are appalling.

    3 stage interview. Initially a telephone interview with a manager who then invited me in for a face to face. Manager then thoroughly went through my CV back to front and asked me relevant questions such as reasons for leaving and my career aspirations. Came back for final stage to meet one of the directors. Started to go through the same process as manager but was much more interested in my short term and long term goals. Understood that I was a success driven person and didn't have a worry in the world whether I had recruitment experience or not as he prefers to train consultants from the ground up. Focused purely on my goals, aspirations and what motivates me as skill and knowledge can be taught, of which to me sold the company. I had interviews at the same time with the likes of Opus and Hays but after meeting the directors I chose Rise out of the 3 and haven't looked back.

    Brief phone interview followed by a face to face interview at the Bristol office. I had all three interviews at once in which was questioned about my CV and why I think I would be good for the role. Very good interview process and genuinely the most passionate company I have ever interviewed for. I don't know about the other interviews but not once did the fact that I didn't go to a private school get mentioned.... I was not kept waiting at all, the new manager called me and told me I had the job before the end of that day!

Called back several times and each time was told that the people who had interviewed me were in meetings. Gave up after a while, huge waste of my time and not a great experience.

    Very intense, professional environment. Two guys did the interviewing and went through my CV in a very systematic and through way. They were keen to get my off the scent of recruitment to make sure that I had a good reason to get the job. Lots of questions about my values, culture, dreams, ambitions, hopes etc. Not your typical interview- a lot more engaged. Went for a first interview with two guys and got invited for a second/third on the same day the next week. The second was with the director of operations- really nice guy, much more relaxed but still tried to get me to stick to other careers and needing some convincing that recruitment was right for me. Got asked in every interview about my hero and what makes me tick. Quite a disappointing experience in the end because they were quite positive and led me on a bit as if they were overly pleased, but no offer in the end. nice guys, but very serious and committed to finding the right person even if you have all the right answers.
