El proceso entero duró unas dos semanas. Apliqué electrónicamente y lo primero fue un cuestionario tipo test muy fácil con preguntas básicas del sector. Al aprobar este test me mandaron una prueba técnica para la que tenía una hora en la que tenía que hacer un pequeño texto y hacer una revisión y optimización SEO del otro. Me llevó unos 20 minutos y considero que fue una buena forma de testear mis habilidades. Poco tiempo después se pusieron en contacto conmigo para hacer una entrevista online. Daban opciones para amoldarse a la jornada de trabajo e incluso se adaptaron a mi disponibilidad fuera de las fechas propuestas. La entrevista fue muy informal, básicamente era para vernos las caras y solucionar algunas dudas por ambas partes. Para mi gusto quizá fue demasiado informal pero me sentí cómoda en todo momento y fue una experiencia positiva. Me contactaron esa misma semana por mail para decirme que se habían decantado por otra persona pero ofreciendo un verdadero feedback sobre por qué se habían decantado por otro candidato y qué les había gustado sobre mi perfil. A pesar de no conseguir el puesto, la experiencia ha sido 100% positiva y estoy segura de que se tiene que trabajar muy bien con ellos.
- Primera prueba de nivel tipo test sobre conocimientos básicos del sector. Segunda prueba técnica con labores propias del puesto. Entrevista personal con preguntas sobre mi trayectoria y expectativas.

The process begins with 1.5 hours of a technical interview, probably to filter out candidates from the start, which is understandable, as they appear to receive many applications. Friendly and laidback, but technical questions really demanding, require in-depth comprehension and I’m not talking only about JS/CSS or framework expertise, but rather the knowledge of how things exactly work under the mask of the browser environment. Even developers with many years of experience might be caught off guard by these questions because problems they concern are quite situational and not really relevant in usual day-to-day coding and if you do sprinkle this knowledge off the top of your head you’re probably aiming for FAANG companies anyway. I respect that they might have their own recruitment methods, high standards and all the time in the world to look for a perfect candidate, but it’s a bit misleading that this offer is not titled as a senior position and requires only 3 years of experience.

I really enjoyed the interview process at Pepper. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The hiring process was lean and the difficulty of the hiring process was adequate for the position. In total the process consisted of 3 steps that all happened via video call: an interview with the Talent Acquisition Manager, an interview with my future manager and a chat with the team, so I could get to know them. The communication with Sergio, the Talent Acquisition Manager was very good. He always made sure that I was informed about the current status of the process and answered all of my questions. Aside from that he made me feel very welcome and so did everyone else that I spoke to throughout the hiring process.

Submitted the work sample within the requested week timeframe then met online with the hiring manager who oversees all country managers. Provided good feedback about my work sample, and I felt like the interview went well. A few days later I was notified an offer would not be provided. I asked for feedback and never heard back.

The interview spanned 3 conversations all of which were very personable and engaging. In the first interview I was told what areas I would cover and also described in general how and what mission pepper has for the company. I was greeted very friendly despite my initial fear of having the interview in English. (Maybe next time announce an English interview to take away the fear for some). In the second interview I talked to a colleague from the team I work in and she explained to me what exactly I have to do in the job. the 3rd interview was with the VC HR. This conversation was generally a welcome, which has remained very much in my head. All in all, they were very relaxed conversations where it became clear to me how nice the company really is.

The role was "PHP Developer (m/f/x) / Berlin or remote". But my interview was "Senior PHP Developer". It does not matter, I am a "Senior PHP Developer". There was lots OOP questions. I answered all, but towards the end of the interview, the questions evolved towards filtering get post data. "The best" is user object question. A question has come to the screen, every side is very very bed code. They ask where the problem is. I said that everywhere of this code smells. $user->name.' '.$user->surname. etc. We have to use $user->getName() better or using magic __get would be better for this situation. One of refuse reason is "injecting the user object". My answer is an explanation of "injecting the user object". Interviews are some smelling.

1. First call of 30min with a recruiter, to discuss about your experiences and how the Pepper works in general 2. The tech call with the team lead and 2 other developers. The team will make you comfortable, the goal is to understand your technical skills. Really interesting, took nearly 2 hours 3. You may have a technical test to do, but maybe you will move on directly to the next step 4. Last step, a call with the CTO and the Head of Mobile Development, to make sure you fit well with the team. Unlike what they will tell you at the start of this call, this step isn't the easiest one but most likely the hardest. The call can last up to 1 hour
