      I applied online on the 20th August - very short form to fill out and literally only took about 2 minutes. I got a call from HR the next morning and the lady asked me a few simple questions and then invited me for an interview on the 31st August.

      The interview was very relaxed and informal (this could depend on who interviews you). First I had to do a theory/risk assessment test, which I failed, but my interviewer told me not to worry as it was only an assessment to see your attitude on the roads.

      I was only asked where I have previously worked, what I knew about Ocado and what I would do if I split red wine over a customers’ cream carpet, the rest of the interview was basically just him telling me about the job role.

      A week later (6th September) I called HR as I hadn’t heard anything from yet and they informed me that I had passed the interview stage, and invited me to a driving assessment on the 13th September.

      I have only been driving (a Corsa) for 6 months and have had a license for 11 months now, but can say the driving assessment was really easy. The instructor said it would last 45 mins but mine only lasted 20 mins (I’m guessing because I got a hang of it pretty quickly). I had a 10 minute drive before he started assessing me and then the actual assessment began.

      I had to do a parallel park, three point turn and reverse turn around a corner. The rest of it was just driving through a residential area and a dual carriage way but it wasn’t hard at all.

      The main difference with driving a van was that there was no rear view mirror and that you have to turn a little wider as it is a bigger vehicle, but other than that, it doesn’t take that long to get used to. Also the vans are automatic, so you don’t have to worry about changing gears and can focus on getting used to driving something bigger.

      6 days later I called them again and they informed me that I had passed the assessment and they sent me a DBS form (a Criminal Background check) to fill out. 5 days later, they called me and informed me that they were about to send me my contract to sign and that I was ready to start the following week.

      I attended the dartford spoke very friendly I was greeted and interviewed by a new manager I think he was in shirt and trousers not ocado uniform as others has said smartly presented had hr lady in as well to observe he was a little unsure of questions but was quite fluent . Make sure you research ocado as they do ask you they give you the chance to state any holidays or appointments booked etc. With my interview they did NOT give me an answer straight at interview and I thought that I hadn't been successful but phoned up head office three hours later and was told I had passed and onto the next stage which is the driving assessment this was two days later very friendly instructor who is an adi explains the vehicles and is very friendly you are made to feel relaxed throughout again at the end you are not informed if you passed or failed again phoned up the next day to be informed I had passed and hr lady at head office would be in touch who was three working days after to offer start date subject to final checks being criminal records references etc all bank details uniform sizes and references done online very simple layout and when completed if straightforward answers you get your contract emailed to you which you read click to sign and all done very simple and easy layout throughout.
