During the last semester of my Bachelor's education, several companies across India came on campus to recruit students who would graduate in 6 months. John Deere, Pune (India) was one of them. I appeared for their 'entrance test'. It consisted of verbal ability and quantitative ability (GRE-like) questions in one section and Mechanics of Material / Engine engineering / Design related objective type questions in the other section. The answers were probably checked by some computerized system as the results were out in less than a couple of hours. Based on the performance in this test, about 30 candidates from my college were short-listed for the interview. I was one of them.
Before the interview we were asked to fill up forms with typical HR-type questions like 'describe your strengths / weaknesses; describe your career goals' etc. The interview was primarily based on the same questions. There were 2 people interviewing me. One from HR and other from as I later understood Manufacturing Services. After all the 30 odd interviews were over and there was some sort of closed session of the interviewing team, the names of the candidates who would be offered jobs were called out.

There was no opportunity for negotiations for the compensation. Since it was an on-campus recruitment process a fixed package was offered to all recruited candidates.

    There was an online test which had 3 sections.First section had 30 aptitude questions of average difficulty and consisted of quantitative, verbal and reasoning.Second section had 15 Data Structures questions, 10 Java Questions, and 5 DBMS questions. Overall difficulty was average. 30 students were shortlisted from a total of 400 odd students. These students had to undergo Technical round followed by an HR round. Both the rounds were quite easy. Finally 15 people were selected and I was one of them.

    written test has 30 qstns based on aptitude and verbal and 30 qstns on c,c++,java,dbms.
    technical qstns were easy compared to aptitude.
    After written test some students are shortlisted for technical round.
    In the technical round they mostly ask about project and some basic questions like oops concepts,dbms queries.
    the people who cleared technical were called for HR.

    Firstly, they conducted an online test. There were 3 sections.
    1. Aptitude (easy)
    2. Programming language(C,C++,JAVA basic)
    3. Embedded(Electronics basics)

    8 people out of 52 were selected.

    In interview (45 min) asked about projects, general questions from your AOI, and your knowledge in embedded systems. They were just checking that your basics were clear or not.After that a short HR interview of 5 min.
