IBM GBS Consulting By Degrees Entry Level Consultant-Vorstellungsgespräch

Anonymer Bewerber im Vorstellungsgespräch in Boston, MA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)

Bewerbung

Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 4 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Februar 2019 bei IBM (Boston, MA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

Vorstellungsgespräch

I was flown out to an interview event and had to go through powerpoints with a mix of technical and business analyst candidates. Nothing about the hiring process is noteworthy other than the company's recruiters throwing buzzwords at you, trying to get you interested in the company's vision and product. They try to sell the job as being amazing when it's a thin veiled entry level consultant position with the expectations of an intermediate-skill employee. Nothing about the hiring process is technical other than the online coding challenge they had you do. I was persuaded more about why I don't want to work for the company when it's supposed to be the other way around, with the marketing buzzword talks, the interviewers only caring about marketing skills (not business or technical), and the lack of transparency about the position.

    Vorstellungsgespräch

Applied online. Was contacted about 2 months later to do a virtual interview through HireView. After passing this round I was invited to DC, which they said would be the last round of interviews. The DC interview was split into two parts, a behavioral and a group case. Honestly, I was not very impressed with the whole process. It was disorganized and was apparent that not alot of thought was put into the logistics of the Super Interview Day. Interviewer was unprepared to conduct interviews. One-on-one interviews were conducted with another interview happening in the same room, which made it hard to hear if the other interviewer/interviewee was particularly loud. The super interview day was supposed to be the last interview but I got a call 3 weeks later to do another interview, which was over the phone. My interviewer made it seem as if I would be hired by his team and told me he would send me more details about that particular group but he never did and instead I got a generic rejection email a few days later. This has been the rudest interview interaction I have had thus far. Will never be looking for a job at IBM based on this experience.

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich online beworben. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Oktober 2018 bei IBM (Cambridge, MA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I applied online and then got invited to an on site interview. There was a pre-interview event where they presented details of the program - this ended up lasting around 3 hours. I was one of the first groups that did this kind of on site interview (they used to go on campus and do final round interviews) so I have heard that this pre interview presentation has now been shortened to around 2 hours after some feedback from the interviewees. The actual interview ended up lasting the whole day (8am to 4:30pm). There were two 20 minute interviews with consulting partners. The data analytics consulting division was supposed to receive one behavioral and one technical whereas GBS was supposed to get two behavioral interviews (they explained this during the pre-interview event). However, many of the GBS people (including me) ended up getting one behavioral and one technical which threw us off since we weren't prepared. This was disorganization on their part and unfair since the GBS people who received two behavioral likely had better interviewing experiences. The main part of the interview was the group case study where you had to work in a preassigned team on a case study. You were given a packet with information and data then you decide whether the business should invest in this new technological idea based on the presented data. The case study was pretty difficult but I guess that's why they made it a group one as opposed to individual. There is data analysis (using Excel), financial calculations, etc. involved in helping to answer the questions. You then need to create a powerpoint presentation. Afterwards, you give a 15 minute presentation to a board of partners who fire questions at you. This was pretty intimidating. The rest of the interview was a mix of different company presentations like learning about diversity in the company, artificial intelligence work, panel discussion, etc. I feel like most of the presentations were not helpful and many people agreed that they would have rather left early instead of having to sit through all the presentations for a company that might not even hire them in the end. The day was also really disorganized since for the group case study, they did not give us our own laptops and never told us that we would need to bring our laptops to the group room. There were also issues getting onto the wifi. All of this wasted time since the group case study was timed. We never even got a proper lunch - we had to eat food while we were working on the case study. I heard that some groups didn't even eat lunch because they did not want to waste time. Like I said before, I was one of the first interview groups, so I have heard that it has gotten more organized since I interviewed there. Unfortunately for everyone who interviewed with me, the day was disorganized and unnecessarily long.

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I applied online and received an invitation to a virtual online interview. Interview was three back-to-back parts. One behavioral, one technical, and one case study. (They said beforehand that it was 2 behavioral and one case study, but it turned out to be technical) I was applying for a technical position beforehand, so I expected a technical interview. However, the technical part consisted mainly of data analysis questions, which I was not expecting since my background is programming. The interview overall was pretty simple.

However, it took FOREVER for me to hear back. I kept contacting hr regarding a timeframe, since I had another job offer, and they couldn't give me one. It ended up being around 7 weeks.

Ich habe mich über einen Personalvermittler beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 5 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Februar 2018 bei IBM (Dallas, TX (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I received an email that a recruiter saw my resume and believed I was a great fit for the role. I did a phone interview or two and it went well. I was then told to go to Texas within the next week for their interview day. The day lasted from 1 pm to 9 pm where they prepared us for the actual interviews and gave us multiple presentations and chance to ask questions and meet with current employees. The actual interview day there were three interviews. A case study, a behavioral and a technical. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We also presented results from a case study we did in groups.

At the end, they took about a week longer than expected to get back to us, which isn't so bad, but they declined to move forward even though it was mentioned that everyone who was present during interview day would be selected if it went well. (even though it went well for many of us, we were denied & it felt like a waste of time)

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I wanted to go over my process so far with IBM. I had applied for them back in Jan. 10th of 2018, got an email a couple of days later for candidate information. Then after about 2 weeks I got an email that I was selected for an interview to happen on Feb 2nd of 2018. You have 3 interviews like all the other comments have mentioned here, my first one was a case study so about 10 min before my interview to start I got an email from the recruiter with a diagram for me to use. Did the first interview, went very well, the interviewer was so nice it lasted about 30 - 40 min. My second interview was behavioral very simple, just pretty much asking if I will be able to handle the job when it comes to hours, phone calls, and locations I wanted, that interviewer was very nice as well it only lasted about 20 min. My third interview was more technical because I was applying to a technical version of this program, but the interviewer was so nice as well, had a great conversation about different tech and he tested me on some other skills too it all went really well.

Now here is where my expeeience turns, I know they said it takes 3 - 4 weeks to find out if you got the position and I had emailed my recruiter at the time to confirm it and they said that is true. I get to the 3rd week and I email my recruiter and ask will I find out this week or next week if I got the position, they told me it takes around a month. I go through the 3rd week no response, I assume I would find out the following week, get to the end of the 4th week and reach out to the recruiter and ask if there was any news, they said they didn't hear anything back. Go through the 5th week and ask again and still nothing. Now I go through the 6th week and ask the recruitrr and now they tell me they were expecting news the following week. Now I go through my 7th week and reach and out and nothing again. At this point now I was done and I emailed the recruiter asking to get a definite answer about when I would find out because they said it takes 3 - 4 weeks but I was in my 7th week with no news. The response I got was just that it's up to the program to make the decision and to just start looking somewhere else. At the currrent moment in March almost in the last week still don't know if I got the position or not, so my offer stays at no offer.

I just recommend to people that if you plan applying for this position at least in my location or area I was doing which was New York, NY/Jersey City, NJ be prepared for not knowing if you got the position for weeks.

I interviewed for the Enterprise App Consultant position. The interview consisted of two behavioral interviews and one case interview where they present you with a scenario and you have to come up with a proper solution on how you would deal with it. I was really intimidated going into it thinking there were be a lot of math to consider etc. but all of the interviewers were very kind and encouraging and not intimidating at all

I applied online (with an Employee referral) in November 2017, and got a video interview a month later in early December. The interview consisted of 3 back-to-back interviews (1 Case, 1 Behavioral, 1 Technical) that each lasted about 40 minutes. The interview experience was very relaxed and fun, and I was able to be myself and talk freely with the interviewers about my interests and skills. Since I was applying for a data science related consulting role, my technical interview had specific questions testing my knowledge and passion for data science.
