The communication started from linkedin. After that I had a phone interview with human resources and later I had to take an online test with a lot of theoretical questions about programming in general and game programming and just a few questions where I had to write some lines of code. The third part of the process was going to Hamburg for face to face interview.

    - Offline video interview via their automatic system
    - Skype
    - Skype again
    And then invitation on-site. With just the same questions as in skype before (what? that was weird).
    All these took really a lot of time.

    Then received rejection with general feedback.
    My point of view - avoid this company, since they just cannot manage hiring process and unable to give ANY feedback. Waste of time

    A recruiter contacted me through Linkedin. Had to complete a automated test online, Then sat down to a skype call with HR, tech lead, and recruiter. It was a straightforward back and forth. The atmosphere felt relaxed and calm while keeping professional. I lasted for about 45 minutes to an hour. Most of the questions were about personality and professionalism.

    Ich habe mich über einen Personalvermittler beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 3 Monate. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Dezember 2014 bei Goodgame Studios.

    Vorstellungsgespräch

    -late september: Initial Linkedin contact from recruiter, few inmails about position and possibilities;

    -early october: General phone conversation (~20min) about past work positions and duties;

    -mid october: CV supply;

    -late october: Online skills test, limited to 2h. Questions all related to the desired position, no unexpected or fancy tasks (that you will never spot at actual job), everything related to the topic;

    -mid november: Education documents supply, salary expectations and availability;

    -early december: Skype interview (~40min-1h) with team leader/HR representative and senior developer. Conversation about previous experience, technologies, interesting tasks and decisions, retrospective about projects you been involved, your personality and wishes to relocate/adopt to the current company's technology stack. Again, relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, right questions, no tricky tasks, professionally conducted;

    -after some time: Email with a job offer that satisfied all my conditions, no negotiation.

    Vorstellungsgespräch

    Process steps:
    1) Initial contact via LinkedIn
    2) Introductory phone call with HR person, mostly introduction and very general questions about interest in working for the company, readiness to relocate to another country, work experience, etc...
    3) E-mailing some documents (CV, Univ. Degree, Photo, etc..) along with salary expectation
    4) An online technical evaluation test
    5) Final interview over Skype with a tech. lead and an HR manager

    A. Technical test:

    - The test is an online Q/A, mostly text, pretty much like a technical interview in a form.
    - Schedule was flexible as in I could pick any time to start the test, but it was time-limited to 2 hours. Time keeping was manual (no built-in timer), so it was tricky.
    - No specific technology/language, no coding, mostly problem solving and general concepts in the following areas but not limited to:
       a) object oriented concepts
       b) design patterns
       c) game development, mainly design problems
       d) some web development concepts (server-side)
       e) general knowledge about editors, IDEs, build/deployment tools, revision control, etc...
    - Time management was tricky, many answers required explanations that could take long.

    In my humble opinion, the test mainly evaluates experience. That means even though it was challenging (and interesting), any one with development experience can answer adequately (especially game dev. experience), but for someone with little or no experience, it can be especially hard to take a lot of time to think about each individual problems.

    In other words, one cannot study or get ready for that test, you either have the experience or you don't.

    B. The interview:
    - It was a Skype video call, the interviewers were really friendly
    - The non-technical part was mostly regular, self-introduction questions
    - The technical part was mainly discussing my past experience, projects I was a part of, how some problems were solved, tools I used, my contributions to certain products, etc...
    Overall, it was a positive experience, interviewers made sure I was comfortable and not nervous along the way.

    • Nothing specific, but during the test there were 2 tricky parts:
      - Properly explaining solutions with only text, no whiteboard, no personal interaction, no sketches or diagrams.
      - Managing the limited time   Frage beantworten

    No negotiations, straightforward, standard offer with an expected straightforward response.

    First, they contact me by linkedin. After that, in 3 days they call me for a personal interview. Ater that they send me a technial test where I only have two hours to answer. The test is very simple where they ask to you game question and programming language question. Then two weeks later, they contact to you for a Skype Interview where you explain your CV and your answer in your test. One week later they told you if you get the job. In my case, my english was not good enough for keep the job.
