Your typical pharma screen, assessment, & STAR-based F2F. Interviewed with DM out of St. Cloud & one of his reps. DM actually made a phone call during the interview without excusing himself from the room. When I tried to follow-up with him, I got an old school voice mail, which I can only assume was at his residence.

    Schweres Gespräch

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich persönlich beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 5 Tage. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Juni 2009 bei GlaxoSmithKline (Knoxville, TN (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I first saw the manager at a recruitment event in Knoxville. If I wasn't young looking for my age (34 at the time) and attractive, I bet I would not have been offered the next step. First, there was a phone interview. Next, the company had a face-to-face interview with three different managers. There was a call back and an interview scheduled for the next week, again. After passing that test, the company had another face-to-face interview with the local managers. They told me to find out as much as I could about Advair, their current promotion. I researched and memorized as much as I possibly could. I knew details by memory that some of their seasoned reps probably didn't know about the drug. Each interview seemed to hinge on the same question-"Why do you think you can do this job if you've never been in sales." I didn't have sales experience or a business degree and this seemed to bother the district manager even though I possessed two graduate degrees and better grades than him ( He revealed this in the interview process.) in science courses in college. After the second-to-last interview, he said he would have liked to see a business plan. (He didn't mention wanting one for the interview.) I told him that I could get him one and drove back into Knoxville with one in an hour. After completion of this task, I was offered a ride-along, the coveted last step in the interview process. My ride-along partner pretty much assumed that my job offer was in the bag. The GlaxoSmithKline rep and I were in the middle of the day when we were told to meet the rest of the team for lunch ( a surprise) at a downtown restaurant. All the reps did was to talk badly about the manger and about what a jerk he was to work for. After the rest of the afternoon calling on doctor's offices and pharmacists, the rep was called and the manager asked if I could drop by to interview again. Another surprise awaiting me was the appearance of the regional manager who was sneering at me as I walked through the door. He was very negative as he looked at my resume and asked me questions. I had the feeling his mind was made up against me as I walked through the door, but I remained confident. The district manager asked me about the lunch and what we talked about. I did not mention his employee's comments, but maybe I should have. Maybe this was another of the company's interview tactics. One word of advice to GlaxoSmithKline candidates: the Knoxville group is full of local "celebrities" including an ex-weatherman and a former U.T. cheerleader, and they seem to take pride in that. Another successful candidate was an ex-Yellowbook rep who seemed a little too provacative in her dress. Business black suits must go after you're hired, I guess.

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 5 Monate. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Dezember 2018 bei GlaxoSmithKline (Collegeville, PA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

The whole process took 5 months. First was a phone screener by someone in HR who knew very little about the position. Second, 2 months later, a phone interview with the hiring manager. Third, an in-person panel interview with 5 people a month after that. Did not hear anything from anyone after that. Four weeks later I checked the HR website and saw that the status of my application was "unsuccessful". While I understand that I didn't make the final cut, I think putting someone through that many rounds of interviews over so much time, and then not having the decency to tell them they didn't get the job was extremely poor form. Definitely need to upgrade their HR practices. Also, some of the emails I got from HR earlier in the process were addressed to the wrong name.

Applied online. HR phone screen a week after that. Hiring manager phone screen a week after HR. Flew out onsite a few weeks after that; a few of us where flown in to speak with 4 people 1:1 in behavioral style with one case. After the onsite is when things get sketchy. As of this posting, it has been over two months since the interview and no update on the job; in fact, one of the folks who interviewed with me has pursued another opportunity because the company has just been sitting on its hands. Also, no one is getting back to me on interview travel reimbursement, which is even more annoying considering I wasn't supposed to cover the charge that I did -- the admin was too lazy to put in the corporate card before the deadline for the booking. I once really admired this company, but this experience has left me extremely frustrated with a bad taste in my mouth. Two thumbs, way down on this one.

Ich habe mich auf anderem Weg beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 5 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im November 2011 bei GlaxoSmithKline (Parsippany, NJ (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

Interview process consisted of an initial screening followed by two face-to-face then one virtual video conference interview with increasing levels of management.

The interview process started with an in-person screening at an MBA conference. Review of background / resume for an exchange of what the position in detailed was part of the screening. Past the screening came the first in person interview. The interviewer was a global category brand manager who asked situational questions, e.g. with a recently launched product, how do you propose to grow the business with other competitors in the market?

Second interview was another in person interview at one of the corporate offices. This allowed me to see the office environment, interact with future co-workers and get a better sense of work life. Interview was with a director who asked behavioral questions.

Last interview was with the hiring manager and / or manager of same level. This was a virtual interview for me. It was a combination of both behavioral and situational questions. Best advice is to has STAR / SOAR response prepared that showcase your critical thinking and problem solving.
