Quick and straightforward. Was contacted by a recruiter, had a phone screening interview and then a 1:1 with a leadership team member. The phone call with a recruiter was more to inform me about the position and then also to verify that my experience was relevant to the position. In both interviews I was given the opportunity to ask questions at the end.

    Bewerbung

The interview process was supposed to have between 3 and 5 stages. I completed the first three stages. Stage 1 - Phone screen with recruiter. Stage 2 - written assignment drafting team communication. Stage 3 - deep dive presentation.

    Fragen im Vorstellungsgespräch

    • I was asked to develop a 20 minute deep dive presentation on a particular project. I was asked to give the presentation over Blue Jeans video conferencing app. I was given less then 1 day to prepare the presentation. They then pretended that they had not received the presentation file to see how I would respond.   1 Antwort

    Vorstellungsgespräch

    1) Phone interview with a Facebook recruiter
    2) VC with Hiring Manager
    3) Onsite interview with 5 people

The overall process was good up until the onsite interviews. This is where it started to go wrong and why I decided to not accept a position, this isn't a company I want to work for by choice -so why, I think there are three reasons:

    1) First, the questions asked in the offsite were not aligned with the prep from the recruiter. Which is ok but I felt they were not aligned nor connected and so I felt a little misguided and not as prepared as I could have been
Second, I was not sold to the people. I thought Facebook was supposed to have some of the best people - not for some I met. For example, one interviewer asked me about some typical program management related topics and I just got that feeling I knew more than they did. I am not trying to be arrogant and I may be wrong, but I used standard industry-standard terms in which the interviewer had to clarify what they meant and I am not sure they grasped some of the basic topics I was talking about. I didnt meet anyone that Wow'd me.... at all... this surprised me.
Lastly, I think this is the biggest, the recruiters ghosted me for a period after the interview. There is no excuse for this and is THE single most annoying thing Facebook did. It is rude and for me was the deciding factor not to work for the company.
I think the biggest thing is communications.

Compared to the other FANG companies and other tech companies, Facebook is by far the snobbiest company I ever interacted with. I should have know because they were snobby at the women at tech conference I attended earlier this year in San Jose as many attendees I know mentioned that they felt that way too. The recruiters are extremely inexperienced and immature and as someone else pointed out online “They think it’s a privilege they even took the time to talk to you.” Google, Apple, Amazon are WAY more pleasant to interact with and needless to say I’m happy FB did not move forward with me as I’m going with another company. They have inexperienced recruiters and managers making hiring decisions no wonder the company is going down the toilet and Zuckerberg and Peter Thiel are selling so many of their shares. Recruiter was late to my phone screen and I was told after my interview that I would hear back in 3 days because I had an “interesting” background. Didn’t hear anything at all. Then when I followed up almost 2 weeks later was told that there was a lot of competition for position so they would keep my in mind for other positions.

I was attending a career fair that was on a Friday. I had submitted my resume to an online database for the fair three weeks prior. Two days before the fair I received an email from Facebook that said they would review my information and connect me with the hiring manager who would be at the event to discuss my background, interests, and the roles.

At the career fair I was set up with a 30 minute interview. There were six interviews going on at a time and they were doing interviews from 9am to 5pm. I have no clue how many positions they were interviewing for or how many people they would take. They said that if things went well they would me to interview onsite in the Bay Area with the team. If that happens then there'd be a separate prep call.

10 weeks from application to response - recruiter screening on-site, hiring manager phone, on-site. They have a great applicant prep tool that allows you to network with up to 3 employees within the employee resource groups. I spoke with a handful to prepare and had great conversations. Doesn't seem like networking with these people is leveraged when making a decision, but a great opportunity to network and learn. After the final round, waited 4+ weeks for an update after weekly check-ins that they would have an answer that week.
The recruiter was very professional and supportive, got along really well, just frustrating that it took so long and felt pulled along to just be denied. Would be a great team to hopefully work with one day.

Friendly recruiter sends an email and makes initial phone call collecting basic information and sharing basic information about the company. Par for the course. But don't bother hoping to work at this company if you’re over 30, and the chances diminish sharply with each decade, especially for an engineering/technical role. Although the leadership person supposedly retracted his statement, it was accompanied by a wink.
I’ve been contacted multiple times by Facebook due to a resume saved in their database, and for a good reason; my background and accomplishments are a dead ringer. This is followed by the courtesy rejection email. Like somehow my qualifications are suddenly no good. Seems like a lot of effort and resources to do this, but it's helping them comply with employment regulations. So be aware, and perhaps safe yourself from the inference that your skills are somehow less valuable.

Initially, the interviewing process was very positive. The recruiter and HR business partner were quick to reply and nurturing, for lack of a better word. I felt really valued and that they were supportive as I went from recruiter screen to onsite. The onsite was a great experience - I wasn't sure if this was the next role I wanted in my career, but would have said yes to work with the team. Onsite was interviewing with 3 members of the direct team, and 2 reps from other teams (eng and product).

Ultimately, I left feeling like I wasn't the right person for 2 of the members, but that the other 3 interviews went well.

I sent a thank you email over the weekend and asked for a timeline update. No reply.

Over two weeks later, I saw the job description was taken down, but I still didn't get a rejection email.

Ultimately, the interviewing process was a negative experience. After committing to a long onsite that required a full day off of work, not to mention 3 phone calls/interviews, I expected to know where I stood - whether it was a flat-out rejection or standard "we're interviewing other candidates."
