I've been doing (and conducting) interviews for years and I can tell within 5 minutes whether a potential employer is interested or not. And, on schedule, the interviewer put up a wall of disinterest and detachment that led to the rest of the interview session being full of awkward, often irrelevant, questions meant only to fill time rather than to objectively assess ability and compatibility . In fact, at one point, he pulled out his iphone and started sending text messages. If they treat interviewees with such disinterest and disenfranchisement, I can only imagine how they treat employees. Here's a helpful tip for Epiq. When you invite people in for an interview, be mindful of your body language. Most people are pretty savvy to how you how act. Also, at the very least, appear to be interested in them, even if you are not. Everybody has their story to tell and should be afforded the opportunity to tell it. If you shut them out in the first five minutes, you could be missing out on a once in a career employee that could have changed the company.
