Describe a situation in which you faced a moral dilemma

I can think of a time when I had a decision to make about the future of someone on my team. My current employer has a “no fault” attendance policy, which essentially means that occurrences are assessed equally and are not subject to excuses. This person was a top performer and got along well with everyone on the team. I saw a lot of potential in him and wanted him to do great things. After being placed on a final counseling, he showed up late. I felt in my heart that letting him go would burden his family, and we would lose someone really great; however, the right thing to do was clear: I had to recommend separation. I knew that it was important to follow and consistently apply our company’s policies.
