The Box hiring team was friendly, open, and thoughtful throughout my interview process. I first connected with them in the phone, where I was able to have a in depth conversation about my goals for recruiting rather than a grilling phone screen. After that, I connected with them to let them know my short deadline, and they were able to get me onsite within two days. Box's office is beautiful and the team was cordial and friendly - a truly bright group of recruiters. During each conversation, I felt like I was able to highlight my accomplishments, and the team helped me understand what they were hoping to accomplish in 2017 to find some alignment. Their recruiting model focuses on engaging partnerships between hiring managers and recruiters, and building up that reputation within the org speaks to their skill and care. There also seems to be a feeling of ownership no matter the "seniority" level of the role. Harry, the Manager of Technical Recruiting easily pointed to some strong examples of junior folks doing some outstanding work that benefitted the whole team, giving me the sense that leadership was "in tune" and appreciative towards all members of the team. When I received the offer, no one was pushy or secretive about the information. Instead, the team was open, warm, and welcoming which made a solid foundation for a conversation in what is often a stressful time for candidates. Overall, an excellent team and excellent experience.

It wasn't the right time for me to join the team, but I'll be looking out to join them in the future. Strong organization, wonderful transparency from leadership, and an enthusiastic team with a big future ahead of them.

Ich habe mich online beworben. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im August 2017 bei Box (Redwood City, CA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

Phone Interview followed by onsite with 6 interviewers. The first interview was over GVC meeting with a spotty connection and background noise. I was told within the first 5 minutes that they were looking for someone with more experience which clearly would've been evident from my resume if they read it.
The rest of the interviews including with the director consisted of questions about my experience working with difficult stakeholders which was a huge red flag for the type of work culture. I was told that the upper management is very involved in the hiring process and that I should expect high volume sourcing. At least I got lunch out of the interview so that was probably the highlight of my experience.

Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 2 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Juli 2013 bei Box (Los Altos, CA (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I initially applied online for a different position, had a successful phone screen with a recruiter, and was contacted a week later about the sourcing role, which they thought was a better fit (they chose someone else for the position I originally applied for). This made me feel like they wanted to hire me and were taking the time to find a position that matched my skill set, which was nice. I came in for an informal chat with the recruiting team a few days before my interview, just to learn a little more about the sourcing role, since I hadn't applied for it and didn't know much about sourcing.

On the day of the interview, I began with the team lead, who was easy to chat with and asked me some standard questions about my background and gave me a brain teaser to work out on the whiteboard, which was fun and not too difficult. The second interview was with two other members of the recruiting team, and was also standard and smooth. The third interview was with someone who had a great deal of experience with recruiting. This person caught me off guard by using some techniques to 'try to get to know me better'. We didn't jive well, and she called me conservative, which threw me off. I let it rattle me and started to over-share in an attempt to seem more friendly. Our conversation topic was very informal and personal. That was uncomfortable for me, but she was professional -- I think it was just a personality clash. The final interview was with someone I would be working closely with, and was pleasant but not too exciting, possibly because I was exhausted by that time.. There was a great deal of overlap between the four interviews.

After the interviews, I spoke with the person I had my informal chat with, who saw me out. She told me they would make a decision by the end of the week. I didn't hear back from them until two weeks later, so I figured I wasn't chosen.

Aside from my third interview, and one point in which two of my interviewers devolved into a personal conversation about whether they were going to yoga class that day (almost as if they had forgotten I was there), it was a good experience. I probably would have taken the job if it was offered, but in retrospect I agree that it wasn't the right fit. Most of the interview questions were about me and not about the company. I think I could have gotten away with not knowing much about Box at all. I still think Box would be a good place to work.
