After an initial phone screening, there was a two-stage interview process. The first stage involved a one to one interview with a profit-centre manager followed by a brief chat with a team leader. The second stage comprised of a presentation to a 3 man panel (a director, a profit-centre manager and a team leader) with a question and answers session after the presentation. Throughout the interview process I had constant contact with Charotte and Natasha (internal recruitment consultant and internal acquisition team leader) and this was a real stand out factor for me choosing Austin Fraser over the other recruitment companies that were asking me for interviews. From the start to the end of the process both Charlotte and Natasha were extremely helpful and seemed to genuinely want me to succeed. They both understood what I wanted to achieve and what was important to me. As well as this, in my first interview I gained a lot of respect for the profit-centre manager after hearing his background and in the second stage of my interview, the knowledge that came across from all 3 of the panel gave me a great insight into the industry and really convinced me that Austin Fraser were the right company for me.

    • Main topics focused on my sales experience and suitable skills I had for the role, previous experience etc. A sturdy questioning process lasting nearly 3 hours but was in depth and opened my eyes to the good and bad of the role and the honesty in the hardship of a career in sales was made clear. I felt like they not only wanted to see I was right for the role for them but also I would enjoy the career myself and be enthusiastic within the role were I to get the job.

    Phone screen: My first point of contact was with Natasha she asked briefly why I wanted to go into recruitment and my back ground she then explained a short insight into the company. I then got invited to have one to one.

    One to one: At this stage of the interview I meet up with Ashley the team leader who was recruiting. He asked me various questions about my CV and previous jobs. Ashley explained what he was looking for and gave me an insight why he got into recruitment. At then end of the interview I took part in a role play exercise which involved me meeting a client for the first time and trying to win his business.

    Group panel/presentation: This final stage of the interview was my presentation on power point I was then asked various questions from Ashley and one of founders Derek.
    We discussed my presentation and I explained it in more detail also about myself as a person.

    My conclusion about the interview process the employees of Austin Fraser where a massive help in giving me information about the company and explaining the pros and cons of recruitment from my initial point of contact with Natasha all the way through to my final presentation with Ashley and Derek. This industry is new to me so I had many questions to ask and they were all answered with positivity and a great explanation. I would also like to say that going into the interview with Austin Fraser I had already been offered a job with another recruitment company but the drive, help and the passion that Austin showed made my decision easy when I received an offer from them and had to choose between the two companies.

    Step 1 - Informal discussion with Natasha, Acquisition Team Leader, and both parties were able to explore the likelihood of a formal application. CV Review. This settled and clarified any initial points I was uncertain about.
    Step 2 - Formal interview with Team Leader. CV Review. Personal circumstances and motivational factors assessed. Ben was thorough and I felt that he made certain there was an environment that allowed for an honest, to the point discussion. The conversation was balanced and that was engaging as I felt that I wasn't doing most of the talking!
    Step 3 - Final Interview with Team Leaders Ben, James and Simon the MD.
    Initially, there was a presentation. Secondly a review of my CV and personal circumstances and lastly a role play. once again, an engaging interview. As Ben had already cross reference any areas he felt necessary in the previous interview, Simon and James were predominately asking the questions. This in itself was a positive factor as I felt I needed to have impressed 3 managers and not one.

    Overall, it was a professional process. In my opinion, the number of small steps taken by the company to provide clarity and support throughout the interviewing journey provided real stability and instilled confidence in the process. Example of these is how Natasha was constantly feeding back and highlighting expectations and how to approach certain situations. The correspondence was verbal followed up by email. The format of the email interview invites were visibly engaging and different from any other interview process I have encountered. The respect shown to me, an individual that was new to the industry was fundamentally where I had that first real feeling that this was definitely a company that I wanted to be part of. Lastly, having some reservations (which really only stemmed from the limited exposure and knowledge of this industry) the company agreed for me to come into their offices and experience half a day in their working environment before committing.

    Although their recruitment model seems to be fluidly robust, they are able to adapt as to ensure their potential new team members receive 100% attention to any reservations they may have.

    Enjoyable open day provided valuable insight into the company including presentations, group tasks and a chance to meet potential employers to ask questions. At the end of the open day some attendees are ask back for an interview at a time convenient to them. The first interview is 1:1, quite laid back, enjoyable and may include a role play. The final stage is a presentation to the Managing Director and senior management followed by questions. All in all the process is professional but also very enjoyable with the employer always keen to answer any questions and reservations you may have.

    It was difficult with lots of probing questions. The first interview was quite relaxed but included a role play which put me on the spot.

    The second interview was a presentation i had to do to 3 managers followed by questioning from them. They went through each of my previous roles on my CV and questioned each one thoroughly.

    I was initially involved in an open day which included around 20 people who were potentially interested in the role. This was a great experience as it was very relaxed but informative. It allowed everyone to gage an honest view of the company, people that work there and what the role would actually entail. I was then invited back for a first stage interview which involved a general CV question and answer and also a role play to test probing skills. At second stage interview the process was very similar but also included a 10 minute presentation.

    The interview process was very efficient and every time I entered the office I could feel that the staff there loved being there. I met first with one of the directors and was invited back the next day to complete a presentation in front of 4 of the directors, all of whom were very accommodating and helpful when it came to me asking questions.
