    Ich habe mich auf anderem Weg beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 2 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im April 2021 bei real.digital (Köln).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

    I got to the third round of the interviews, when I decided it is a no-go for me.

    I got approached by the company in the first place, the organization was looking for someone who would be responsible for a pretty solid part of the product development.

    1) Quick introduction round with the HR
    It was a friendly chat, with usual questions.

    2) A round with one of the PMs of the company.
    The call was really strange, the questions raised were either addressed for someone who has just started with the product management or the answers I have provided already were not understood, we were clearly not on the same level.
    My questions were barely answered, the interviewer picked up a defensive state by picking up my CV and asking questions which you can consider provocative even.

    3) I got invited for the third round of the interview to meet the hiring manager.
    It started with the question from the other side: „so, why are we here?“. The whole discussion was really awkward, somehow it felt like the stereotypical episode from the movies when a sales person applied for a job and he is given by a task to sell a pen to the interviewer. In this call I felt like I am the pen.
    It peaked at the moment of the questions asked: „why should we hire you? What can you do or bring that other PM candidate wouldn’t?“.
    My questions were answered by contradicting answers and often referred to „product influencers“ best practices.
    He didn’t even try to make the company attractive and explain why should one join the real digital at all.

    It was barely a professional Product Manager interview I took part of and the understanding of the role at the real digital is really different from any other company.

    After reading the reviews here I guess I dodged the bullet after all
