Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Reynolds American (mehr als ein Jahr)
Decent benefits, 401k with match, great coworkers
Hostile environment, fearful of job security, constant drastic changes...I could go on and on.
I was hired at the height of Covid during what I like to refer to as the "calm before the storm". Everyone I knew that worked for Reynolds or that I interviewed with, PROUDLY spoke about how they were a Reynolds employee and how amazing the company was. Things were great when I started and I felt like part of a family. Then the black cloud of BAT rolled in and things quickly began to fall apart. All mergers/acquisitions are rough, but wow. Employees here are miserable, fearful and absolutely broken. People are being laid-off or forced out at an alarming rate and without warning in most cases (and most are coincidentally senior and elders of their teams). Whole departments have been wiped out.
BAT wants Reynolds to conform to their other regions, but how do you expect a company rumored to be attributing to over 50% of your volume to conform to those that aren't doing a quarter of what we are (meaning volume and workload)? Nevermind the FDA regulations that we have to follow. They don't take any of this into account and just want us to figure it out along the way. Meanwhile the company is imploding and the employees are fighting for their lives and mental health.
I left a toxic work environment to come right into another, where the execs could not give even a moments pause to really stop and listen. Where all people are expendable but they tote around the "best in class" and "better tomorrow" marketing b.s. It is truly sad what they have done to this company and the workforce that had built it into a powerhouse of NC. Reynolds as everyone knew it is dead and gone.
Rat an das Management
BAT needs to actually LISTEN and stop being the bully tormenting us from across the pond. They pull all these strings and they are beating everyone down to nothing. Actually act like you care about more then your conformity and the mighty dollar (or GBP in their case) and stop steamrolling the processes already in place that work and have been profitable and efficient for years and were rewarding to the employees as well. The people leading the efforts and getting things done are the most important. If we are not happy and proud and mentally in a good spot, the work is going to reflect that. Have an ounce of humility and understanding and stop threatening the very people that are holding this dwindling company together.
