Here are my summaries: - The screener has been disrespectful. - It is a very long process. It took me 7 weeks to go through the process. - The reason I heard about why I didn’t get the job didn’t make any sense. Here is the full story: I have applied for a Principal Engineer position in the Copenhagen office and here is the story of my unpleasant interview process which includes 7 interview with 9 different people. It started with an email that someone want to chat with me for 30 minutes. He schedules a Teams meeting. The meeting time, the guy is no show. 25 minutes into 30 minutes meeting, he sends an email: “my apologies, my meetings are running late”. He proposes a meeting 2 hours later. 2 hours later, guess what? He is 20 minutes late to this meeting too. I am thinking is this some kind of joke or what. I am about to give up and say screw you but he shows up telling me “sorry I am having computer problems”. Hard to believe but what ever. He asks me questions about my background my experiences for 30 minutes and he tells me in the end that he will call me for another interview. The next interview is scheduled with someone else which I later find out that he is the CTO. It is a Teams meeting but I knew I happened to be around the office at that time so I suggest if we should meet or have it on Teams. Interviewer is ok meeting me in the office. Interview day. I get welcomed, we go to his office and we sit down on a round table. We are having a dialog and I talk about some stuff and immediately understood that he has not read my resume. Ok. He doesn’t tell me what they do, what I would be doing. He just asks me theory questions. “Pandora has may softwares, many departments, hard to maintain. How do you solve it”. I am like, how do I solve what? For 40 minutes, I am getting only theory questions which I do my best to answer. In the end he tells me he will call me for a second interview. He also suggests couple of books for me to read and have understanding. I am thinking interesting but ok.. Later on I talk to the recruiter and he tells me it is me and another guy out of many and they might end up offering job to both. 3 weeks passes and no news and I am thinking they must have changed their mind. First person who interviewed me sends an email. “Congratulations you are going to the second level, you will be interviewed 5 times with 7 different people, 1 hour interviews. I am very overwhelmed reading this but I am ok with going through the process. One by one, I am having interviews, from technical to theory. With a developer, with other principal engineers, with a VP, with a product owner. Except 1 interview, I am pretty confident about my answers. Here is the interview I didn’t feel good. 1 hour the interview, they send me a 4 page PDF file making up a fake company, fake case, fake problem. The assignment is asking me to prepare a 20 minutes presentation of it…..This is during business hours and I happen to have my own work that I didn’t have time to even look at it in a good way. I am having a short dialog with the recruiter before every interview and getting a feedback of the first one. He keeps saying, “You are doing great”, “Everyone is loving you”, “They are very happy”. I go through all the interviews and wait for them to get back to me. 3 weeks later I decided to follow up when I saw that they post the ad again on LinkedIn. I am pretty convinced that I am not picked. I still want to hear it from them with a reasoning. I reach out to the recruiter and he doesn’t get back to me. 4 days later I ask again and he goes, “I am still collecting feedback, I will get back to you. Then we finally meet and he tells me I did great but it is a “NO”. Reason is that the guy in Copenhagen, the guy who sent me to the next step has decided that I am not a fit. I am very frustrated to hear this. I just cannot understand that if he had doubts, why the heck has he sent me to next step of 5 interviews. Took my time, took companies time.Vorstellungsgespräch- Let's implement a shopping basket. Walk me through your thinking. - Pandora has lots of services using certificates. Certs expire. How do you solve this problem. - Company wants to switch from one ERP system to another one. How do you handle it. - What is the difference between API gateway and API portal. And many more.
