  3. „Very old school behaviour and mentality”

    Pros

    Salary is decent. Most people are really friendly. Centrally located in Glasgow.

    Kontras

    Old school management style, with a lot of micro management and less trust. Management are not skilled in people skills just policies and processes Probation is 6 months and regardless of what you do within this period you are not rewarded for it. Company seems to focus on the wrong things and people in the company are a last resort. No mental health care in place. No real work life balance The company wants... to change however there is no desire to change the way people react, think, or deal with processes and current methods. Any ideas towards this is seen as negative. Business leaders see themselves as the most important player in this business and focus on only stats and dont really have anything to do with their leader development or hold them accountable. There is less people skills at all levels resulting in alot of people being unhappy and eventually leaving after only being with the company a short time

    Reigate’s a nice town to work in, restaurant food is nice

    Kontras

    Micromanagement, rigid 9-5 culture, want to leave 30 mins early one day? That’ll be half days holiday then. Still expected to wear suits....

    Most of the staff at esure are helpful and want to help each other out Close location to Reigate high street Free minibus service to Redhill station and back each day

    Lack of direction since being purchased at the end of 2018 - no plans until well into 2020 Senior management don't listen to staff Aggressive redundancies covered up as "Compensation agreements" "Subsidised" canteen is anything but - cheaper to grab something from town than have food inside Middle management are littered with bullies who abuse their authority If your face doesn't fit, you're not going to... advance beyond your position Lack of flexible working - this is 2019, regimented 9am-5pm doesn't really work compared to other jobs on the market Sick days - you'll have pay reduced in the 1st year Too many people are deadwood, having been in the company for years and unwilling to change their attitudes

    Treat your staff as adults rather than children and keep them in the loop. You've created a toxic culture of "no information is good information" which doesn't work. Promote the RIGHT people instead of those that just toe the party line Do something with the deadwood - they're actively hurting the ability to drive the company forward

    The people are amazing, very friendly environment

    Kontras

    Management and exec have been extremely poor communicating to staff through a critical time e.g. Bain. No fridge or microwave available unless you are a PA or exec or sit on a particular floor Technology is a disaster, computers always have problems Flexible working has a long way to go No social events arranged by exec/snr management e.g. no xmas or summer party. Each site does not communicate to each other

    Socially genuine people work there good camaraderie at telephony level

    Kontras

    Operational Management are Bullies at Business Leader Level and above, your face has to fit and opportunities only go to those people “liked” by then Management provide no support very stressful work load jobs for the fav’s and bully tactics to ensure control same people chosen for additional tasks . Staff treated like children , umpteen incentives to keep staff sweet Pizzas Vouchers etc KPI’s are only achievable... on teams with staff who have lengthy tenure no consideration to teams with new staff on employee survey delayed when staff feelings are negative like they are frightened to send it out some Team Leaders have little knowledge and are unapproachable at times also rude to their staff Manchester Operations is a dreadful place to work you are simply a number

    Consider your employees and give them support nurture and support all your staff not just ones that you “like”if you treat them well they will want to work hard for you. Inappropriate relationships within the office is giving some Business Leaders and Team Leaders a bad name amongst their staff

    Pros

    Very lucky to have great managers, there is a lot of support from team leaders who are generally quite laid back and approachable. The pay is very competitive - I moved from another insurer 2 years ago and have had over £4k pay rise. Senior managements take part in "Townhalls" where the come to every office to update on progress/changes within the business and are very open even to challenging questions. Senior... staff/execs have real, genuine enthusiasm for the business needs. Currently undergoing a huge overhaul to update aged software, change internal processes to make it easier for staff & customers, big intention to grow the portfolio

    Truthfully, the HR policies are awful. 5 day for bereavement, no sick pay entitlement until you are 1 year in service (even though a probationary period is only 6 months, so for the other 6 months you're a full member of staff with no sick pay). The attitude seems to be that the benefit package is in line with other insurers and therefore it doesn't need to be better.

    The HR processes really need some improvement - staff shouldn't be forced to come into work unwell (either mentally or physically) simply because the sick pay is to poor that they cannot afford to take the time off
