Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei Weber Shandwick gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Being part of a network, having access to 'sister' agencies, having access to experts from all areas of the communication industry, possibilities to move from one office to another.

    Kontras

Lots of red tape, high cost, too many people who arent revenue generating; they hire you by saying you will join a big family but will fire you as soon as there arent enough clients

    Rat an das Management

Cut the red tape, become more nimble

Ich arbeite seit mehr als einem Jahr bei Weber Shandwick (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Respected in the industry, interesting clients, smart people

    Kontras

Longer hours than others in the industry, little respect for junior staff, poor compensation for expectations, forced camaraderie and a phony atmosphere of support

    Rat an das Management

Listen to the junior staff. In the same breath we are told we are not being billable enough (e.g. that our office isn't hitting its numbers) and that people need to attend the non-billable all-staff meetings rather than doing client work.

Ich habe bei Weber Shandwick gearbeitet ()

    Pros

It's a job. You can learn something there, depending on your level. If you're junior, you can excel as long as you do nothing that intimidates the leaders.

    Kontras

Extremely long hours, lots of busy work that doesn't amount to driving results within an often sexist environment --against both women and men depending on who likes who. Very sorority-like. Lots of favoritism for people who have been there for a while, whether they're good or not. They freely admit that anyone with experience who comes there often doesn't stay long, because WS Chicago makes its own rules, many that...

    Rat an das Management

I would tell the leaders at Weber Shandwick Corporate that they've lost many talented people who have accomplished a great deal in the marketing world (both before and after WS). Why? Because the top leaderhship in Chicago is very erratic, doesn't like teaching anyone anything, and continues to suggest the same, recycled programs for a variety of clients. If that's what WS Corporate wants in the Chicago office, WS Corporate...

Ich habe bei Weber Shandwick gearbeitet ()

    Pros

Large global organization with lot's of potential opportunities Depending on the practice area they have some marquee clients Each office is unique so if you're not a fit in one - that doesn't mean you won't excel in another - provided you're willing to move.

    Kontras

Sweatshop mentality from senior level management. Office politics are a must for advancement. Good work is quickly recognized and the credit for it taken by senior management. Lot's of old-school PR folks who don't want or because the Weber Shandwick infrastructure doesn't allow them to, shift to the new realities fo how successful PR is done.

    Rat an das Management

Get off the high horse and treat employees better. This will do more for your reputation that all the marketing you're doing now.

Ich arbeite bei Weber Shandwick ()

    Pros

The sheer size of the company and its worldwide network means that you get to work on a range of international business and large brands on major campaigns. There is a level of training, knowledge-sharing and experience that cannot be matched by the vast majority of PR agencies.

    Kontras

Long hours and a tendency to go after every piece of new business at the expense of employees' free time. Often not enough time to truly think about how to deliver the best service for a client.

    Rat an das Management

Communicate more efficiently with staff. There are often 'open secrets' that could have easily been communicated by senior management but instead spread their way aroudn the company via Chinese whispers
