    Lots of free food, decent in-house gym, bonuses allegedly high

    Kontras

    Toxic work environment, people above can withhold information to take credit when fixing things later, food is designed to keep you in the office longer, lots of profanity and sometimes employees get verbally assaulted. Food will make you gain weight, not clear chain of command and if you do not land on a good team (back-office is terribly managed, mid-office is overworked) then your experience will be miserable.... They dangle the bonus in front of you, you earn it at the end of the year but they won’t give it to you until 3 months into the new year...Impossible to move up unless someone leaves AND someone else that has been waiting also leaves.

    Improve back-office, new manager seemed promising but it’s the same case as was before. Tons of experienced people from the back-office have left as well as the best manager, the direct managers of some back-office groups are inexperienced and seemed to have been picked out of favoritism.

    Pros

    - Above market compensation (only if you look at the total package) - Getting to work with capable people, there's absolutely no room for incompetence - even if you're young and inexperienced - Great place to be after establishing your career (but not anytime before that) - One of the top trading houses to work for in the industry

    - With most of the total package in the annual bonus, coupled with the culling season that starts before the bonus is paid out, there is a palpable sense of fear. Most are protective of their turf and see colleagues as potential rivals. - Come here at the peak of your career, not anytime before. There are limited opportunities and seniors are not willing to teach because you are nothing but a cheaper replacement... for themselves. - This place is an old boys' club, where relationships matter more than actual capability (as long as you're not too mediocre) and what people think of you matter more than your actual capabilities. Very male dominated, especially on the commercial end. - Toxic environment that rewards money making; sometimes crossing grey ethical boundaries, and oftentimes giving revenue makers the right to be obnoxious

    Start investing in your own people - you can't expect to build loyalty if the only thing you give your employees is a great pay cheque. They're just loyal to the money.

    Salary and the ,no budget culture of spending ..which is good because they dont mind spending nor wasting. Bonus not too bad

    No progression or any real care for there employees Lots of dead weight , lots of employees whose time has passed but are still employed . Still living in the 19th century .

    Pros

    Working with very smart traders who know what their doing. Open trade floor concept with an open door type culture which is at its advantage if you want to work collectively together to execute deals. Managers do not micromanage and trust you will get the work done on your own time. Total comp is good and above average. Great benefits, free food.

    Kontras

    Overall poor management - few have had little to no training. Issues get overlooked or ignored. No assistance with the resources required to get the job done. High-volume of work but not enough to allocate to - very lean. Base salary below average - out of norm bonus structure makes it hard to plan future finances. Flat structure, no room for growth.

    Pros

    Total package (retirement plan and total compensation) is above market, great reputation in the oil industry.

    Kontras

    Salary is below market, bonus makes out too big a part of the total package which makes you dependant on it and promotes a culture of fear within the company. Very few people with "executive" power (heaps of people who play around for hedging purposes or to keep busy and call themselves "traders").

    Change the remuneration structure, hire people with vision and true leadership skills to avoid presenteism among the staff. Truly empower people - will be profitable in the long run and will allow the company to reinvent itself.
