    Worked well as a startup.

    After the takeover key stakeholders were moved out to accommodate EMC employees. The direction of the product in production took a big hit. Company now treats employees like recyclable material

    none to identify , maybe IMS is clear PRO but focusing on Products of dell Technologies for Managed Service

    Kontras

    No customer of VEC basically existing, no DC in Germany . Compensation Model is absolutely unfair, no chance to over exceed. Management is driven by personal goals and thinks it cloud do everything better, no customer data existing, no lead generation .

    Dell has very well organized employment support and a great energy.

    Pros

    At one time there was a good engineering culture. A few good folks are still left but they are rapidly dwindling. At one time this was a "strategically aligned business" with dreams of playing a key role in Dell's cloud strategy, but that died and now it is essentially a problem child for Dell. Work-life balance is good and being part of Dell the benefits are good.

    1. The company is being prepped for sale - a fire sale. 2. Endless rounds of layoffs. See #1. 3. No technical leadership. 4. Offices are closing/ emptying out - however this could be a pro if you are a loner or like working from home 5 days a week.

    Admit you failed. Either sell the company or let it go. Dell can pick up any valuable pieces and have a rummage sale for the rest.

    Good benefits / Flexible work

    Too much office politics: managers operate by pressure, not by inspiration nor by support; blame-games, finger points; honesty is considered to be a threat; not sharing relevant information in order to maintain control; favouritism; backstabbing, etc. etc. And what about HR? Too busy working hand in glove with managers!

    Be open, fair, honest, friendly and supportive. Leadership takes real risks for employees, stands up for them, gets them what they need, is there for them when they run into problems. And last but not least, train the HR people on the core goals and values such as “promoting honesty, respect and integrity” as it’s a real shame that they have no familiarity with such terms…

    Working under Dell gives you fair corporate benefits.

    Poor corporate culture, nothing like Dell. What is appreciated is that you appear busy rather than deliver/execute. It is substantially political environment. Lots of lazy people who are happy to leave the work to others. Lots of incompetent management, who got the positions by moving up the ladder after their managers got laid off. Does not feel like company is part of Dell.

    Get serious and review true leadership qualities. People are good even if they don't work in the US. Company should appreciate their colleagues overseas.

    Dell benefits. The list pretty much ends there. A lot of the pros are now either gone or going away.

    They are frequently changing direction. This isn't because something better comes up; it's because they don't know what they're doing or what the real value is in the technologies they produce and then abandon. Re-orgs are so common that within a year your team name can change, your mission can change, and your manager can change twice (or more). I had a whole paragraph written about their frequently changing... priorities, but it may give away too much corporate info. Let's just say they've changed their mind three times and abandoned some platforms, and now they're going in a TOTALLY new direction that makes no sense. Who knows where they'll be a year from now. Their most talented, senior-level experienced engineers can't leave fast enough, and they're doing little to try and 1) figure out why, 2) keep them, or 3) replace them. Instead, they're backfilling those spots with non-US engineers. Above the first layer of management, promotions aren't exactly happening based on merit, so the technology direction of the company keeps moving in the wrong direction. They've expressed their desire to split DevOps into Dev and Ops units, and honestly have no idea what DevOps or SRE roles do. NONE. The company's culture is going the wrong way, and looks more and more like a tech company from 10 years ago. The only saving grace is that Virtustream is under the Dell umbrella. Other Dell companies are not like this, and it's easier to move to one of those companies once you're in Virtustream.

    Give live exit interviews. Seriously. You might learn a lot, especially when some of the smartest engineers are leaving your company.
