    Most of the "qualified" employees that work here are great to work with. Decent benefits.

    Family members are given positions they aren't qualified for. If Marta Hall likes you she will promote you even if you don't have the experience or background to do the job. Sexual harassment, hostile work environment and any employee issues are ignored, not addressed at all because the HR person has no experience. HR is a joke! Don't count on job security...it doesn't exist here.

    Sell the company. You don't know what you are doing. You are driving the company into the ground. Retire and let someone who knows how to run a real company take over.

    The pay is good and thre are a handful of good employees.

    Kontras

    Seems the company lead staff only wants people of their ethnic background. Replaces good workers with workers of their ethnic background. Leads do not know how to train. I have worked as a lead and have never seen such poor training. No feed back on work, so you do not know if you need to do better or even if you are doing Ok. Management needs to look at their lead trainers because the company is loosing really... good employees by not paying attention to what is going on.

    Walk the floors once in a while and talk to your workers and see what training is being given them. Replace leads with workers who know how to properly train. Take racism out of your company.

    The right technology at the right time in a market that is poised to explode. Growing quickly building a new management structure and growing the team. Putting a concerted effort into moving beyond past and building a successful company. A lot going on here. The team is generally pleasant to work with and most people are focused on doing their jobs well. Connections to all the aspiring autonomous vehicle makers and... a product that selling well now. Huge challenge in front of the company is to scale up and design the low cost lidar sensor that is ultimately needed. This makes it very exciting.

    The company is still very small and is privately held. There is no clear way for the employees to benefit if the company is sold or does an IPO. The company revolves around the personality of the owner, lots of patience is required to introduce new ideas of move in new directions. (This could be considered a pro also, think Steve Job's and Apple, pain in the butt to work for but maintained a clear vision and... direction).

    Continue the growth and build up of the team. Organize the engineering so that some people can focus on next gen without being totally sucked into sustaining engineering. Find a way for employees to buy into the company (options, grants, ESPP or something). That will go a long way toward attracting good talent.

    Pros

    I've been with Velodyne for close to 2 years now and I've seen many changes in management, direction and leadership. It looks as though the company is now on track with the right people for the specific job functions and a great vision for the progression of the company. There are new products on both the Lidar and Audio sides of the business with continuous quality and enhancement introductions. I am so happy to... be a part of this growing company where I see such a bright future. We work hard but have fun at the same time. I like how well everyone works together to achieve a common goal.

    Great products. Amazing LiDAR product which COULD change the world. Audio products used to be the best, but now have major quality issues.

    Many leadership problems and unclear direction. Too hard to achieve goals for nearly anyone because objectives change daily. Employees and customers are confused and unable to accomplish much.

    Employees need to be valued and trusted. Expertise needs to be utilized or everyone just turns into drones. No pun intended.

    It's products are very potential. The company is growing up and everybody in that company is so busy.

    If you love money and you can handle the tough job, this is your dream job. They pay good but the working environment is far below standard especially the manager team.

    Be nice to people. This is the US, not third world countries. Please treat people like human then they will feel comfortable to work harder for you.

    Good home/work balance. Enjoy most of the people I work with. Reverse commute is nice.

    No leadership/poor leadership. Toxic environment, family politics. Did I mention the lack of leadership? Be prepared to function in a dysfunctional environment.

    Coworkers have fun, reverse commute, flexible and pay. If money is your happiness in a company then this is the place to work. You must be willing to do anything and everything for them.

    Management is crazy, lacks experience, arrogant and difficult to work with. Do not have a family. Do not say no to them and do not trust anyone. No matter how much fun you have, do not trust them.
