Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei UOP (Über 5 Jahre)

    Pros

Still a leader in the industry. A few of the best and brightest in the industry, holdovers from the old UOP, continue to work there and have alot of knowledge to provide if you're willing to learn.

    Kontras

Management keeps eroding away reasons to work there, such as benefits. There is no planning beyond 5 years and for the long term health of the company. There is little planning for the many experts who will retire very soon who have been relied upon to keep UOP at the forefront of the industry. Company focuses on management, sales, and business rather than the technical capability that UOP was built upon. Attrition in groups just spreads out the work among the rest of the group members lowering morale while the company gets the same work out of less people while management beats up the group for not having the same output.

    Rat an das Management

The current company is not sustainable and will take a major culture change to fix. Start changing culture from the top not from the bottom up.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei UOP (Über 10 Jahre)

    Pros

The two things that keep me coming back are my colleagues and the opportunities, It is easy to find someone to provide inspiration - either on professional or personal levels. True sense of teamwork with many people with the mission to solve problems and improve the industry. World class experts that are difficult to find elsewhere. The opportunities are hard to beat - working on a global scale in industry leading projects keeps you engaged.

Ground-level management is very supportive and the company is large enough that there is a great variety of opportunities - from very technical to service to business you can find the flavor that fits you. (Though you do have to be proactive to manage your development.) There is good work-life balance - though this also has to be proactively managed and will vary based on your professional aspirations. This is not to say that there won't be times of intense work - specific project needs, industry upcycles, etc.

    Kontras

Unfortunately, it feels like HON has figured out that many people stay because they want to and execs seem intent on finding the lowest level of compensation that people will live with.

Lower salaries used to be acceptable due to higher benefits, but these have been consistently eroded. For those with a pension - the benefit was frozen, meaning expected increases due to salary increase were eliminated. Try retiring on your un-adjusted 35yr-old salary. Health insurance plan quality was downgraded to a high-deductible. Severe travel restrictions were imposed.

Corporate initiatives and HR policies can be misguided or opaque. 401k match was recently increased. BUT then the match was changed from per-paycheck to at end of year (provided you are still employed). Then the payment was changed to January. Then it was changed to end of January. Hope it doesn't change again. In the meantime, Corporate sends out an email explaining that since the stock price has declined over the year this delayed payment has "saved" the employees money. Also included in this year's communication is how the health insurance premiums haven't changed in 4 years. But 4 years ago the health plan was severely downgraded while costs increased, it was so sub-par that the industry is still catching up.

    Rat an das Management

Address morale. There have been some good improvements in the last year or two - but these are mostly on small scale. The downward pressures from the mother-company have been taking a toll for a while and a more consistent effort would be appreciated. Increased parental leave is a nice gesture, but the increased increased 401k match was negated by delayed and conditional payment. Limited compensation and benefits for non-business roles. There is also growing concern that sustained pressure to maintain high-growth is resulting in unsustainable HR, sales, and management practices.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei UOP gearbeitet (Über 5 Jahre)

    Pros

    Good infrastructure, good brand name

    Kontras

Top management, middle management, key technical positions, are all held by south indian employees. Management provides growth opportunities only to south indian employees. These employees work less, come late in Ofc and leave early. Management do not make any backup for these employees (they are typically single point failures in their respective technology or skills area like prv), they get quick progressions and way higher salaries. On the other hand, non south indian employees get unfair treatment. They have to work hard, have poor work life balance, and are made to create their own backup. They do not get growth opportunities, and are unfairly evaluated. They typically get poor annual ratings and get much less salary.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei UOP

    Pros

Interesting and challenging technical work. Co-workers that are bright, pleasant and willing to help. A manager that is helpful. Good work life balance. Unlimited vacation. Working late or weekends is not expected. Zero tolerance of harassment and discrimination.

    Kontras

Benefits (pension, 401K, healthcare, etc.) have declined since being fully acquired by Honeywell. Quarter to quarter short term focus often drives decisions that are contrary to the longer term interests of projects, the company and customers. International business travel is coach class tickets.
