    Pros

    Nice work-life balance. Work on challenging problems and deliver meaning solutions to medical imaging product. The company try to attract the talent by raising the salaries and giving out small rewards.

    Kontras

    Management is a total mess. Many research and engineering people left due to poor management. The top management team only care about themselves, and pay little respect to individuals. Promote and clear out people w/o any transparent and fair procedures. Get the wrong persons in the critical management roles, and many talents left the company due to that. Not much room for personal growth.

    Pay attention to the people, motive them by setting higher goals instead of asking them to stay at the "right place". Stop playing those political games, otherwise good people will keep leaving.

    Pros

    The people, particularly the junior level engineers and scientists are very talented individuals. They provide a good health insurance plan and a reasonable 401k plan. The workload itself is reasonable i-e 37.5 hrs/week.
    They have nap rooms which to be very honest are not worth to use due to cleanliness issues.

    Kontras

    If you have any self esteem, forget about holding it for long. There is no respect to individuals, talent, new ideas. One of their slogan is "Diversity" which is true if you are at junior level. There is no diversity at the top level. Having worked in the x-ray/CT imaging research group, the senior management is a complete mess that is disorganized, preoccupied and only good in playing political games and in letting your self esteem down. There is a lot of attention to gossip and rumors and the response to them is very unprofessional. More than a half dozen people that I know left tmru due to the management.

    While I understand that the management is talented but talent is not the only thing to run a company, group or project. The whole top level management is tied knit together. Come out behind the doors and run tmru like a real business.
    Better communication with employees is needed and that step has to be taken by HR.

    Good working environment. Balance between life and work is good.

    Not respect to individuals. Management is mess, change ideas frequently. They prefer to play political games rather than focus on the science.

    Pros

    Toshiba moved the Research and development team to a new building and modern offices. This helped to motivate all employees plus the company commitment to the employees’ benefits also added encouragement.

    Kontras

    Unfortunately, there is limitation in moving up the ladder and if you are unhappy with your situation not much you can do about it. There are no training programs.

    Please pay attention to each individual and their needs in your company, because engineering is your asset and you will not succeed without your engineers.

    Pros

    The workforce here is very talented and worries about developing products that won't harm people. If you work here, you will be a recognized expert. If you like a culture that has a glossy facade with meaningless perks such as nap rooms and fresh fruit and healthy lifestyle crap crammed down your throat, this is the place for you.

    Senior management will throw you to the wolves.When Japan says jump, it had better be high. The game playing behind closed doors is unbelievable and it is disturbing how management hears noise and responds in a totally inappropriate fashion, using gossip and innuendo to shape policy instead of business evidence.

    Get out from behind your closed doors. One of you is a wolf in sheep's clothing and the others are too stupid to realize you are playing a game to try to get ahead. Get real folks, this isn't a children's club, its a real business and some of of us would like to see it run like one.
