Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei The Chicago Council on Global Affairs gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

      Pros

Intelligent, diverse and fun group of people to work with. The programs and content produced are both topical and compelling. The notoriety of working with this organization is great. You will be exposed to some great international and local networks. New and modern office environment with great benefits package. The location of the office is convenient with multiple transportation options as well as great views of the...

      Kontras

HUGE disparity between top and bottom levels. Promotions and pay are not consistent throughout different departments or based on the amount or quality of work that you do. Your yearly evaluation is hardly a determination for promotion/raise, which is largely determined based on how close you/your work is to senior management. Workload is also not distributed proportionately between departments or colleagues. Not many...

      Rat an das Management

Reward employees more fairly across all departments and appropriately for the work that they do. Develop a more uniform and transparent system for determining raises/promotions.

Ich arbeite bei The Chicago Council on Global Affairs ()

      Pros

Amazing and super motivated team. Interns do real work as opposed to simply doing administrative tasks. I love the mission and values of the organization.

      Kontras

I don't believe there are any definitive cons. Interns are very much appreciated and are contributing to the overall quality of the organization.

Ich habe bei The Chicago Council on Global Affairs gearbeitet ()

        Pros

Lots of talented people at the Chicago Council, the best organization of its kind in the Midwest. Good roundtables, lots of awesome programs.

        Kontras

Not having as much of an impact on policy because its in Chicago. More focused on a few specific issues at the expense of others.

Ich arbeite bei The Chicago Council on Global Affairs (Vollzeit)

        Pros

The Council's mission of promoting global engagement makes it feel good to work there. It's full of capable, passionate people doing interesting things, and the networking opportunities through events are hard to beat.

        Kontras

As a nonprofit, it doesn't pay junior staff well. There's probably some planned turnover. That's understandable. Sometimes the passion of the staff can lead to tension because everyone wants everything to be as good as possible, but they have competing visions.

        Rat an das Management

Treat the junior staff with a little more respect--the line workers could use the support and encouragement. Other than that, keep being ambitious.

Ich habe bei The Chicago Council on Global Affairs gearbeitet ()

        Pros

I loved my time at Chicago Council. The organization has visionary leadership and management cares about the staff. All the employees are awesome and are passionate about what they do. The networking is amazing as you can interface with leading thinkers on a range of global issues. For those working on the research side, the organization supports junior staff writing and speaking. There are many opportunities to...

        Kontras

Very few. For some, it is difficult to advance. However, in my experience, hard workers usually had a chance to shine. And, this is a very entrepreneurial place, so you could craft out your own niche.

        Rat an das Management

It would be great, budget and time permitting, to give more development opportunities to junior staff across the board. Please continue the focus on fundraising at the management team level, it sends a good message to the rest of the organization.
