    Keine Meinung zum Geschäftsführer

Ich habe bei Teach for America gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Building data skills, opportunity to work remotely.

    Kontras

Very low pay, awful corporate culture which continually highlights negatives, absolutely monotonous job, managing directors who don't understand position so do not coach well.

    Rat an das Management

Do a better job holding Leadership Team (particularly MDs) accountable and actually listening to the concerns of RAs. The position was developed in a completely different era of TFA and university recruiting as a whole. As a result, the position is inherently flawed now, making it extremely difficult for RAs to meet the metrics set for them by their MDs. If RA's are hired late (which almost all are [late = after... July]) adjust goals accordingly to account for onboarding/learning curve. End the unspoken culture of "you're never doing enough." Pay attention to LOW GALLUP SURVEY SCORES OF MDs and TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. Pay every RA a livable wage above the poverty line for their region or city. Stop burning bridges with corps member alumni who work for you through these cons.

Ich habe für mehr als 3 Jahre bei Teach for America gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

The benefits are great and working from home is a huge plus.

    Kontras

I didn't always get paid overtime. This was because my manager at the time was more concerned about the bottom line than paying for work earned.

    Rat an das Management

Specifically to managers on the Recruitment team please be sure that you are showing your appreciation to your team. You all have lost so many great people because they felt unappreciated and undervalued.

Ich arbeite seit weniger als einem Jahr bei Teach for America als Vollzeit

    Pros

Some of the best professional development, very organized, focuses on continuously learning, people truly care for each other, amazing mission :)

    Kontras

Some times the work load can be a lot, there is a high bar for strong results (as there should be), but it can be stressful at times.

    Rat an das Management

Keep prioritizing DEI. This is what sets you apart and keep caring about the people first, performance second. If you want to increase staff retention, just increase salaries to be more competitive (especially in cities with higher costs of living).

Ich arbeite seit mehr als einem Jahr bei Teach for America (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Amazing talent, an organization that is thoughtful and thinks deeply about its trajectory

    Kontras

Too top heavy -- TFA likes talented employees but then doesn't give them room to grow or solicit their expertise, leaving them overqualified and frustrated. Decision-making seems to be in the hands of the few. Hours are long.

    Rat an das Management

Tackle burnout: the hours are too long to be truly sustainable.

Ich habe bei Teach for America gearbeitet ()

    Pros

All staff I had worked with both regional and national were so passionate and committed as well as intelligent. Culture and ability to advance both high.

    Kontras

Hard to have personal and professional alignment for many and staff turnover out of the organization or transition to a new role was at times challenging

    Rat an das Management

    Better salary for tenured employees

    Stimmt gegen Geschäftsführer

Ich habe für mehr als 3 Jahre bei Teach for America gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

This might not be true for every spot in the organization, but I found there to be good flexibility with working hours and sometimes working from home. There's also some freedom to explore/design your own projects based on your interests. A lot of very smart people work at TFA - by far, the people are the best part about the organization.

    Kontras

It's very tough to get ahead in this organization, unless you came in through the teaching corps. Managers are very young and often have limited management experience, with limited training for them to improve their skills. The workload can be very high (and despite what TFA says about "work-life balance," there's limited support to achieve this) and the org often confuses "stretch projects" with work that is simply... stretching your time, not your skill. Quite a lot of groupthink, particularly with upper management - questions and dissenting opinions don't seem welcome. Performance reviews focus more on your personality than on your performance. Highly political environment.

    Rat an das Management

Be honest about where the organization has to grow, open up to people with professional experience beyond TFA, hire managers with more education & experience in the non-profit management world
