    Pros

Decent portfolio of projects to keep the teams busy until, at least, end of 2016 - 2017, maybe longer. Good people. Decent pay and average benefits (other than higher than usual paid days away from work). Not a bad name in the industry yet. Anyone willing to do exactly as the boss says will do great in this company.

    Kontras

No sense of clear business direction, business processes are constantly broken by ad-hoc changes, reorgs and change of plans. You are hired for your experience and knowledge but once you are in, your opinion is not really appreciated. Vast majority of decisions will need to be brought to Management and you might be surprised with their resolution being exactly opposite of what your team is advocating for regardless... of how strong your business case may be. Laughable authorized spending limit for a Project Manager and overall very little room for independent decision-making. Convoluted and outdated design specifications and operating procedures often with no one in the company knowing why a certain requirement is there in the first place (but enforced nevertheless). A lot of undocumented O&M knowledge that's not fed back to the design but projects are somehow still expected to know. Lessons learned are not used the way they should be. Corporate Quality System (CPMS) launched pompously a few years back has now been scrapped altogether and replaced with "Project Deliver Standards" and TOMS, developed in secret in yet another silo within the company. Unless program leaders smarten up and start talking to people using it and close the feedback loop, that, most likely, would end up as another stillborn child.

    Rat an das Management

Learn to trust your employees and push down more decision-making powers. Close the feedback loop for Specs, TOPs and TOMS/PDS processes. Manage Lessons Learned centrally (last year you fired the only guy who attempted to do that for a few years). Quit changing everything constantly!!!! Develop a plan (as a team effort, not another silo project) and stick to it! Stop printing and signing/stamping everything... manually - it's 2016, so act like it. Anyone showing up to a meeting that has a projector and WebEx/Lync with printed copies of presentation and handouts for everyone should be tied to a tree in a forest and left there to be eaten by beavers.

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 5 Jahren bei TC Energy (Vollzeit)

    Pros

    - Good coworkers (for the most part) - Good work hours, flex days, vacation days - Good bonuses in March - Opportunities to move within the company - Office locations are great if you are working in Calgary

    Kontras

    - Pay is below average for an oil and gas company - Incompetent management is the root cause of all problems. They create more problems than solve any of them. Almost all of them are clueless on how the company actually works/makes money. - Managers do not understand what individuals on their own teams do - Large organization means everyone works in silos, so do not expect any communication. No open door policies... here. - Stress levels are high on average, make sure you are healthy if you want to work! - Lots of "dummy weight" employees who provide no benefit to anyone - Most corporate policies lack common sense - Large company means nothing gets done quickly or efficiently - Lots of turnover in some groups, and lots of unhappy people in others - HR is useless, so do not bother asking questions - Benefits are average, nothing special

Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei TC Energy gearbeitet ()

    Pros

Very informal and many decisions are easily made. Overall, people are treated well on the human side

    Kontras

The paperwork needs maturing, too many politics, many uninformed decisions are made, people are more concerned with satisfying a supervisor's changes than doing the right work. Culture is opposite of the mandates and philosophies. There are messages in large art on every floor to be collaborative however it is not practiced.

    Rat an das Management

Provide training to managers on how to manage. Too many convictions and resistance to change convictions despite new and solid information.

Ich habe für mehr als 10 Jahre bei TC Energy gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Very environmentally and ethically focused company. It's size ensures plenty of opportunity to move around and grow into areas of interest.

    Kontras

Regulatory approval process can drive unstable work environment for large projects. Staffing up for something that is anticipated to be approved can sometimes result in staff layoffs when the approval doesn't happen. It can be very demoralizing.
