    Pros

Its a bit like the wild west in that there are little restrictions placed on what you do or how you do it. Very rule other than the basic policies about dress code etc. is set by your direct supervisor, so if they are reasonable / don't care how you accomplish your tasks it can be great. There are opportunities to learn and grow. The projects you work are meaningful and directly impact how the state functions.

    Kontras

It really is like any other job in that it depends on who you work with. Your super is responsible for everything so having a good one is great having a one that decides how you do everything and keeps you from interacting with the people you need to ruins everything. The technology and methodology used is antiquated and a prolonged exposure to the mentality can twist your judgement. There are basically no... hiring standards, so as a consequence the people you work with are a mixed bag. Some have intelligence, skill, and desire others wouldn't know or care either way.

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 5 Jahren bei State of Missouri - Technology Services Department (Vollzeit)

    Pros

It is a decent work/life balance since you typically get the weekends and evenings off and benefits are adequate. They are open to accepting new or entry level employees. For the most part co-workers are appreciative of motivated workers and hard workers. It is a very typical work environment, not must socialization amongst coworkers.

    Kontras

Management, pay, and advancement. Management can be a bit spiteful to those employees looking for advancement but can't get promoted due to policy, etc. The pay is considered the lowest in the state and the cost of living is typically just enough to cover the health benefits increase each year. Additionally, management has a difficult time with encouraging and growing exceptional personnel. At times it appears... the managers are not willing or flexible to change... making innovation and creative thinkers feel frustrated and disheartened.

    Pros

Benefits are great - about a month and a half off each year because of holidays and vacation time Usually the best computers and software Usually get to play with a lot of software not usually available Most of the employees know what they're about and are decent at their jobs

    Kontras

management is not very good, too micro Beaurocracy is a nightmare in a place like this - there is a protocol for everything Pay is not good compared with other job titles in private sector, however, it is good for the area
