    Pros

    - new CEO Carl Theobald brings along a good strategy, good mindset - new employees join the company and the hires are good - new upbeat feeling and motivation - still one of the best (if the not the best) solution for personalization - excellent set of references - highly skilled employees that understand personalization - compassionate mindset, respect for employees RichRelevance has gone through difficult times in the past 2 years, but emerges strong and better positioned under the new leadership. There have been internal promotions as well as outside hirings, both bringing the right people to positions with impact. The company offers unusually good career options, supporting internal promotions, cross department and also giving people outside the US a perspective.

    This review would have looked very different one year ago. There has been much change and the workforce was down to the bare minimum. But the situation has improved, is stable and the company is set for growth. Still, there are some areas for improvement: #1 - Hire more people #2 - Hire more people #3 - Focus on innovation #4 - Showcase more of the good examples there are #5 - Get a nicer office in SF

    Company has some of the most amazing people across all departments Very strong product offering, with big upside in the coming 2 years to become the de facto market lead Solid compensation plan Strong vision for the market

    Lots of change within a short period of time caused a much longer and tougher internal transition period than expected which caused quite a bit of negativity among employees (this has changed a lot for the bette recently)

    Pros

    The people working at RR are great. Always their to help, no politics and a great attitude to work hard and get things done. The Management is open minded and trying hard to get the company back on track after some decisions in the past that worked out not to well looking backwards.

    Kontras

    After 10 years start-up mentality the company is forced to grow up. Great products, focused vision on retail only with already great customer portfolio that need good people to make that transformation happen. 2016 will be a true turning point for the company.

    Great product with great technologies

    I had a manager/VP of the region who hit me in the back of my head twice. He was also aggressive when I don't agree with his opinions even in brainstorming type of conversations. I tried to open up about my thoughts and emotions and work the situation out, but what he said was "leave your ego home." There was nobody to talk to in HQ back then, such as HR manager. (One of the reasons I had no connections in HQ is this manager didn't allow me to go to the on-boarding training.)

    Pros

    Smart co-workers. You get to learn a lot from them. Many were let go during the massive lay-offs.

    - Benefits: Industry offers better benefits. Benefits offered at Richrelevance are just meh. Insurance is expensive. No commuter benefits such as Uber / Lyft credits. Many startups at San Mateo offers better benefits. - Company culture: The culture is to hire and fire. For once I thought the current CEO has a good vision but he is worst than the previous one. CPO is the worst thing that has ever happen to this company. He brags about what he has achieved so far but when it comes to product and hiring, he made some terrible choices causing 50% engineering layoffs. - Product: Many customers are building their own recommendation system, thus leaving rich relevance. Though the company adopted some ML/DL models strategy, their big customers (more than 3 I know) have already implemented those before they could and were/are performing A/B testing to replace them asap. The company is in survival mode. Even if they get more funding, funds will exhaust and another round of layoffs will happen.

    Pros

    Some good people who care. Some of the executives also seem to care. Tons of flexibility with work from home, flexible hours, PTO, etc. The company IS the leader in the personalization space.

    Kontras

    Product is languishing and not good. It's become very difficult to sell it. The personalization space is commoditized. Deal size is pretty small (ask about it) Non-existent culture, and the company does not care about building one (there's no money anyways) Lack of transparency and flat-out untrue information from the CEO. Nastiness can occur within some teams and with some people who are not pleasant. As the other review says, the CFO is the real boss, and he's a brutal guy. Massive lay-offs occur every 1-2 years, more recently earlier this year, with no previous notice and minimal severance (40-50 people gone) Penny-pinching is the name of the game (you will be questioned on expenses) In general, the company is going nowhere pretty fast.

    Pros

    Employees are great people, smart, and clients are interesting

    Kontras

    The executives think they are smarter than they are, constantly say everything is great, and that they are transparent, without actually being transparent. The CFO is essentially the CEO, with anything he says done without pushback. People who were there for 4+ years were given 1 week severance in a massive layoff, which was incredibly insulting. Pretty sure the rash of reviews over the last couple years were also fake/the executives and their buddies providing the reviews.
