Ich arbeite seit mehr als 3 Jahren bei Relief International (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Field staff quite committed. Emergency response is yielding results. Regionalization is a positive step. Centers of excellence is a positive step to increase focus & quality. Grant fund raising is on the rise.

    Kontras

Country leadership lacks accountability leading to nepotism & loss of resources. Human resources management needs serious improvement in accountability, fairness & transparency in recruitment & performance review. Finance system is weak in control & compliance. Management line specifically finance & staff are blurred & abused. Communication protocol often personalized. Funds is considered as only measure of success... for country & regional offices. Operation procedures are often rigid & top down.

    Rat an das Management

Hold country & regional leaders through a transparent and two way performance based measurement beyond funds raised. Recruitment should be more transparent & must follow standard procedures. Finance systems & procedures to be made more dynamic to ensure compliance & accountability of resources. Improve critical & strategic thinking among leaders. Coordination between all the layers of management & implementation... staff. Focus on teansparency in operations with an eye on efficiency & value for money.

Ich habe weniger als ein Jahr bei Relief International als Vollzeit gearbeitet

    Pros

    - Work alongside some really dedicated, capable and interesting people - Appears to be a good internal online training scheme - Global and regional offices can be really supportive, if country management bothered to introduce you properly and explain their role - Left to get on with job with minimal interference most of the time - Benefits package was generally one of the better ones compared to other NGOs in... town. - Some really good work going on.

    Kontras

    - Contract was terminated early when funding ran out, despite repeatedly voicing the need to secure alternative funding to country management for almost 5 months. - Poor internet in field location limited ability to access training resources, emails, and everything that would make your job a lot smoother. - Internal financial systems were a nightmare to deal with: was expected to know exactly how much money had... been spent on budget but nothing was reported formally and directly until up to 6 weeks after, with minimal support or meaningful help from finance otherwise. - Technical program management were ignored or worse not even consulted on program proposals, leading to bad programming that they were expected to then implement with little notice. - Issues of favoritism, lack of professionalism etc from country director. - Received practically zero professional development in 7 months.

    Rat an das Management

    - Consult and listen to your technical staff and program managers: they know their programs and the context best. - Stop chasing donor money for the prestige, and focus on what the actual needs are, how they can be addressed - Invest in staff who show potential and don't penalise initiative. - Financial systems are simply not working in their current state

Ich habe bei Relief International gearbeitet ()

    Pros

The environment in RI is very supportive to create, innovate and learn as long as employee’s contribution supports the achievement of organizational mission and satisfy door interests. The leadership at various ladders is very much supportive in order employees impart their skill, knowledge and other important characteristics that support innovation, creativity and learning is a central element of program design,... implementation and monitoring and evaluation.

    Kontras

Due to the overwhelming competitive landscape and fluidity of donor funding priorities, there are critical funding problems that hinder the smooth continuation of the country program.

    Rat an das Management

The senior management should spend more time on how to ensure long term financial stability and maintain organizational health. More networking and close relationship has to be cultivated with donors throughout the country programs around the world. It is through such relationship with donors that RI becomes connected with potential funding. The deeper the relationship, the stronger that connection, and the more... likely that donor will support RI and its mission.
