Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney

    Pros

Has great employee support and benefits largely due to it being owned by UTC

    Kontras

UTC CEO is often critical of the U.S. President (not professional IMHO)

    Rat an das Management

    N/A

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney gearbeitet

    Pros

Solid company. Fun being part of a business with global impact. Have enjoyed seeing PW and UTC as a whole succeed!

    Kontras

Sometimes it seemed that the company operating system was not consistently applied, especially to satellite offices.

    Rat an das Management

Be willing to take a little more risk in terms of new product ideas.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney

    Pros

Extremely good salary relative to peer companies in the industry. Respectable benefits package.

Senior management and executives are accessible and engaged.

Great products and a respected name in the industry.

    Decent work environment.

Good opportunities for education and training.

Most people seem to care about their jobs and take pride in the company.

    Kontras

The company has grown rapidly, but still operates with limited formal documentation and workflow based on the premise that everyone knows everyone else. This makes personal relationships far too important to getting results than they should be in this size of corporation.

Work life balance is talked up, but routinely doing 50-60 hours a week is all but required to meet objectives for mid to senior level employees.

Unrealistic expectations of what one person/position should be able to accomplish relative to similar roles at other companies.

    Rat an das Management

Focus more on the big picture and long range planning, less on meeting quarterly or yearly numbers.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney (Über 5 Jahre)

    Pros

Great technology and you can have the opportunity to experience different programs that will give you more experience.

    Kontras

Career ladder motion is 'very' slow, unless, you know the proper people. Salaries could be better too.

    Rat an das Management

There's still a lot bureaucracy in the company. Processes are extremely long sometimes for what it needs to be done. This can be an opportunity to improve and empower the employees.

    Stimmt gegen Geschäftsführer

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney gearbeitet (Über 10 Jahre)

    Pros

P&W has a great history, and despite venturing a bit deep into the outsourcing swamp, they are known for stability, innovation, and an authentic emphasis on safety (both product and workplace) and quality.

    Kontras

The outsourcing mandates have cut deeply into morale and collective knowledge over the last decade. Attempts to standardize practices in design, production and customer support have yet to replace the core knowledge of the employees.

    Rat an das Management

Try to rebuild company loyalty with some sense of security. If a new or potential hire sees a lot of 20+ year “veterans” who still love what they do, maybe they won’t spend as much time and energy looking elsewhere.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Pratt & Whitney (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

Good ethical corporation, Higher then maine's avg pay, Great college program. Good place to work if you have no drive to move foward.

    Kontras

Seems like a great place to work at first but as the years go by you realize how stuck in the past this place is they like the way the company runs and refuse to change anything to improve the way things are done.
If you don't like school system for its slow in the box teaching style but otherwise are a genius they will refuse to move you forward.
The chain of management you directly work with is powerless to move you foward.
The engineers have no idea of the direction of force or whats even needed to design basic tooling and are never on the work floor and lack any creativity what so ever but you really can't expect anything more because they only hire people out of college for these positions and you can't teach creativity.
There are deadlines every month that can't even be expected to be hit because the programers arnt even on the floor speeding processes up and management is forced to set up new jobs before they can even build invintory.
Machines are not utilized due to the people responsible for process development being incapable of even minor upgrades because they won't bother spending time on the floor either.
Most machinist are kept to one or two jobs because they have difficulties running a three axis nevermind a three linier two rotary axis multi cut job.
All IT jobs are outsourced to a company with employees that are only capable of replacing mice and keybords and are incapable of writing any c# or setting up directories moving systems or upgrading or adding hard drives.

    Rat an das Management

Layoff everyone then start by hiring intelligent people into low positions and let them learn. Peope who learn the first jobs quickly move them up to machinists from machinest to mechanics from mechanics to engineers or management. This way everyone at least has a general idea as to what direction move and what exactly needs to be done.
