Ich habe für mehr als 10 Jahre bei Pitney Bowes gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Comparable pay but little chance for advancement. Rewards for outstanding performance. Car allowance. 40 hour work week but some weekends required.

    Kontras

Very high amount of travel and large territory means high amount of customer down time leading to upset customer base.

    Rat an das Management

Need to address customer needs by retaining quality reps. By doing so will increase customer satisfaction which has been trailing downward for the last few years.

Ich arbeite bei Pitney Bowes ()

    Pros

The best thing about working at Pitney Bowes is they don't keep their national level managers for very long. This means that you get some satisfaction from seeing someone that has been commited to making your working conditions hell get promoted out of your way to some European job that's just been created or better still sacked for one thing or another.

    Kontras

Pitney Bowes DMT has never been a good place to work as a Service Engineer, but over recent years treatment and conditions have eroded beyond dreadful. There has been a consistent drive to dumb down the engineering staff, who essentially now work as setters, setting up the machines fo operators who can't be bothered. Benefits have been reduced over the years - an example of a few are noted below Standby rates... have been cut for engineers. Company car grade has been lowered for engineers. Sharesave scheme abolished for engineers. Pay rises are inulting if you even get one. Yet the company still manages to fly managers on a Jolly all over the world, rearranging flights at the last minute and incurring huge cancellation fees. Work life balance is non existent. If you get a home life it's only because Pitney Bowes allow it. You're expected to be available to work anywhere and any hours at the drop of a hat and if you can't make it for any reason even after having substantial pressure applied, you're left in no doubt that the company disapproves, threats such as "You'll need to consider you're career very carefully" are common. As an engineer wanting to provide the best possible service to the customer, it's disheartening to find that you're just not permitted to keep an adequate amount of parts onsite to provide the level of service you'd like. In the past, it was uncommon for a machine to be inoperable even overnight, now it comes as no surprise if a machine has been down for 2 weeks awaiting parts. Obviously there is a very strong blame culture in this company and if you're unfortunate enough to gain employment with them, you'd be well advised to put everything in an email and keep a copy rather than phone because at some point it will be required as proof when a manager tries to say he was never made aware of a situation. There is absolutely no cooperation between the many different departments in Pitney Bowes, many have been outsourced and don't care and the ones that haven't just have no interest in helping you to do your job. The HR department are there solely to let management know just how much they can get away with. Appraisals are set by the management team and are pointless. Part of the official appraisal process involves moving the goalposts to ensure that the results fit to a nice bell curve. Many of the targets are set at a national level and no matter how hard you try, if someone else doesn't, you're not meeting the target. Others are just plain impossible, for example a customer breaks a piece of equipment, you let them know that it'll be chargeable, they then call the account mangement team, who decide to give them a freebie, despite you being given instructions that any damage through misuse is chargeable. Finally, the company sends out a survey once a year, it has done for years. Over time the questions evolved so as you can't really give your true opinion any more. An example of this is instead of asking you to rate different thing about the company as in the past, the question now asks you to put a tick next to the 5 things you like best about working for the company. This now means that the company can say X% like Y the best, instead of allowing you to disapprove.

    Rat an das Management

Stop the bullying. Listen to your employees once in a while, you don't know it all. We're at a point where there's no benefits left to strip away - give it a rest now.

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 5 Jahren bei Pitney Bowes (Vollzeit)

    Pros

They have decent benefits for health and 401k plan. They also provide a decent amount of paid time off when first starting out.

    Kontras

Poor raises and in ability to really move anywhere in the company unless you want to travel a lot or move.

    Rat an das Management

Recognize those who do most of the work for you and help them out instead of giving hand outs to those that hate the company and do nothing for it.
