Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei Officite gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Its can offer some opportunities to work on challenging projects that can sharpen your skills - then you can leave the organization with those skills you've learned to earn much more.

    Kontras

You're required to know Photoshop, HTML, CSS, and proper web design methodologies. Additionally you're expected to have a college degree in most cases. They are unable to compensate properly with these requirements. You'll be lucky if you can make 40k annually here - if you aren't senior or upper management or in sales.

    Rat an das Management

Compensate fairly and based on market standard or lower your expectations/requirements for the positions you offer.

Ich habe für mehr als 3 Jahre bei Officite gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Relaxed dress code, free coffee and snacks (same as you'd find at any tech/marketing company)

    Kontras

Do not work here. Nearly all of these reviews, positive and negative, make the same two points: - The pay is low - Not bad for new college grads The first is certainly true. You can find a number of jobs that pay more, regardless of your field (Web development, customer support, SEO), even in Downers Grove or any neighboring suburbs. This company relies on new grads still living with their parents who don't... need to pay rent, and the salaries offered reflect that. "Not bad for new college grads" is a red flag. This company is a revolving door, most people work here for about a year or less. Any reviews describing good benefits and PTO were written by people who must not have had any other office job, because the benefits are acceptable at best. I actually pay less for better health insurance at my current job. The majority of the employees are new college grads with no other real office experience and are treated as such-- even though these positions are salaried, you have to clock in and out, and every move you make is closely watched. The workload is never-ending. Regardless of your field, your workload is a queue you will never catch up with. Finish 3 tasks, 5 more take their place. Because of this, management places arbitrary goals to make sure you're working 'hard enough.' These goals are often set by management that has never done that job, and thus have no idea what goal number would be realistic. Many people 'game' this system by going for the easiest tasks first to pad their numbers and make sure they hit this arbitrary goal. This leads to management, who only look at the numbers and haven't worked the job themselves and therefore don't fully understand the work involved, to give favoritism to these employees. This also leads to divides within departments, as employees scrap for the smallest and easiest tasks for the sake of numbers. This never-ending workload is caused by a combination of the office being severely understaffed & mismanaged. The office is understaffed because of the parent company, Internet Brands. Many, if not all, of Officite's issues as a company can be traced back to Internet Brands. Officite's product offerings are not of good quality, and for a tech company they are woefully behind on tech trends. But they make a profit, so Internet Brands sees no need to spend money to correct any of that. The same explains the understaffing. Officite is profitable at its current staff count, so why spend more to ease the employee work load? One final bit for Web Developers/aspiring web developers: This job is not web development, it's advanced customer support. For all intents and purposes, you will be working as a customer support rep in a call center. The only difference is your work requires a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, and you'll be on the phone a little less. For any new grads looking for starter web development experience: you won't find it here. Finding a new job was a huge struggle for me, as the experience gained here was almost completely useless in any actual front end web development position. You gain no experience with any front end frameworks, not even any real JavaScript experience- just HTML and CSS. Which is like learning Latin to get better at English. The pay here is embarrassing , you will be treated like a child, and no work you do will feel meaningful in any way. You owe it to yourself to work somewhere else.

Hire more employees. Take the time to understand what the employees in your department are actually doing so you can manage them effectively. The web developers should really have their own manager who actually knows something about web development. Less Panera Breakfasts, more pay. But the company is profitable as-is, so I doubt any change is likely.

Ich habe bei Officite gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Relaxed dress code, beginner experience. That's it.

    Kontras

Attempts at new employee training turn into a "figure it out yourself" training model. Then, despite the lack of guidance, management constantly micro-manages and is quick to point out mistakes without offering help. Management claims they want feedback but refuses to change after nearly all the staff leave negative reviews during regular management surveys. Miscommunication between all of the departments.... Miscommunication with clients on expectations. The favorited employees get to cut corners with their work, and hard workers are never compensated. No upward mobility, unless everyone above you quits and you get a managerial position. Overall, this company is bottom of the barrel marketing, doesn't care who comes and who goes, and refuses to take responsibility for their shady actions.

    Rat an das Management

Don't brag about how much money the higher ups made in front of under-paid employees. Management needs to treat employees like humans instead of robots. Improve communication between clients and departments. Have a real training program setup for new hires. Don't favorite employees.

Great first job to learn the basics of SEO and Google Ads. Can you a variety of digital marketing jobs after this one.

They do train you at first but then just let you loose and make you learn as you go. It would be nice to get more training.

Ich arbeite seit weniger als einem Jahr bei Officite (Vollzeit)

    Pros

The team you work with is great. Pretty relaxed environment.

    Kontras

Management plays favorites, and it's quite obvious. Overworked and not enough pay, unfortunately. No room for growth, when they interview they promise that there is room to grow but there's really not. When there are open positions most of the time management will open up interviews as a courtesy but have already made up their minds who they want for it, so it's pointless.

    Rat an das Management

Value your employees they are the true assets of the company :) Instead of using the budget on useless fun committee activities how about paying us more?

Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei Officite gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

This is a really fast paced company with the potential to grow. It's relatively easy to get your foot into the door but they are results driven; so you're expected to meet expectations 100% of the time. Lots of opportunity to learn new technologies. Office culture is alright. Plenty of special events and treats. The people there are awesome. This is a great place to work if you're a college grad.

    Kontras

Mainly, there can be tons of disorganization. Many people come and go at this company so there will be challenges that come with that. The workload is pretty huge which ends up turning many people off. Management is OK. Nothing to send home about and in some cases can be unfavorable like in any other job. I have had great managers too. Mainly, the pay is below market expectations. Benefits are OK.

    Rat an das Management

Listen closely to your team members and respect their hard work.

Ich arbeite seit mehr als einem Jahr bei Officite (Vollzeit)

    Pros

It's a great first job if you are right out of college looking to gain experience in the search marketing field. There aren't an abundance of opportunities to move up but management will accommodate you if you want to learn more in a particular area to help foster growth. The work environment is relaxed and coworkers are young and friendly. Managment is understanding and doesn't get on you for making mistakes... nor micromanage. You have a good amount of work autonomy and are empowered to make your own decisions to clients accounts. Management & team members are always willings to help you if you have questions or need help. Work hours are set from 8-5pm but management is understanding if you need to come in late or leave early occasionally. A positive of being paid hourly is that you are able to make up time that you missed. Managment is very generous about time off requests and will honor most requests. Great work/life balance. You leave work at work. Paid holidays and good PTO. Culture: company outings, fun activities in the office, free monthly lunches, monthly "birthday" dessert, random days where they cater breakfast from Panera, free snacks and coffee in the kitchens.

No summer hours, work from home opportunities, or flexible work schedule.
