Ich arbeite seit mehr als 3 Jahren bei Northrop Grumman (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Great experience and a lot of room to grow. The company is constantly looking to expand its operations, which creates a ton of new job opportunities.

    Kontras

At times it seems like the upper management isn't in touch with the lower level staff. The typically large company issues.

    Rat an das Management

Hit the production floor and interact with you're employees.

Ich arbeite bei Northrop Grumman ()

    Pros

A lot of smart people work here. They have good processes in place. Very few cliques and mostly inclusive of everybody.

    Kontras

Upper management has for the last few years has waged a continuous assault on benefits. From cutting down paid holidays (they recently cut the day after Thanksgiving), eliminating yearly profit share bonus for most employees, to massively raising the cost of health insurance and blaming it on Obamacare.

    Rat an das Management

Stop the assault on benefits. You will soon lose your most experienced people and will be left with only wet behind the ears recent college grads who are just happy to have a Job. You're turning Northrop Grumman from a place where people have careers to a place where people just have jobs.

    Pros

Very little involvement from department management as they treat you like an engineer who can perform their tasks efficiently.

    Kontras

Little to no upper management exposure

Ich arbeite bei Northrop Grumman ()

    Pros

You meet and work with a lot of smart people. Management seems open to listening to ideas from early career professionals; you can tell they are focused on retaining the best employees.

    Kontras

While development opportunities are strong for early career and upper management, there is definitely a sag for senior level analysts. Once you're through the early career stage, development opportunities and programs seem to drop off significantly.

    Rat an das Management

If you truly want to retain people, you need to focus development on all stages of employees' careers. It's tough to feel good about getting having great attention placed on you early in your career and then becoming stagnant when you feel you should be continuing to develop and grow as you enter your mid career.

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 8 Jahren bei Northrop Grumman ()

    Pros

The people that make up this organization are amazing, smart, and excellent to work with. Someone is always willing to help out and we all realize the goal of the job is to protect the warfighter. At the lower levels, new ideas are always welcome.

    Kontras

A LARGE amount of bureaucracy. Upper management is completely detached and gets very little input from the ground floor, so much so that it has a very large impact on business in the long run. Favoritism and nepotism are near epidemic levels which prevent's the company from making actual progress.

    Rat an das Management

Try meeting with engineers and technicians on the floor and asking their opinions without leading them into it. Lead instead of manage and you will see a HUGE improvement. Stop fooling yourself into thinking that everyone is happy because they have a job, the rest of the world is full of opportunity and that is why you are losing people.

    Pros

its a good name - fortune 500 company, but think twice about working here.

    Kontras

ABSOLUTELY NO GROWTH!!! Too many layers. I have been to HR several times to get guidance on a different career path...I have a Masters degree and I am still a rep because of the limited opportunities, this company just recycles folks in upper management and calls it a re-org. I work with a person who does nothing never shows up for work yet she is "protected". I hear work life balance but yet to experience it, a... very micro - managed company. I feel stuck...I keep getting job offers elsewhere but the distance is too far.

    Rat an das Management

Concentrate on talent, reward people for a job well done. Reduce the layers, HR please take a step up and do more in assisting people with getting where they need to go.

Ich habe für mehr als 5 Jahre bei Northrop Grumman gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Open communication forums, wealth of experience to build from and depending on what department you're assigned to a descent work environment

    Kontras

Due to the nature of government funded contractual employment, upper management will scrutinize and monopolize employees creating a somewhat volatile environment.

Ich habe für mehr als 10 Jahre bei Northrop Grumman gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Good pay, some really great programs, decent educational opportunities. Some really brilliant coworkers. Flexible work hours.

    Kontras

Benefits have gone straight downhill. Top heavy. A lot of the upper management think very highly of themselves. Bureaucracy is stifling.

    Rat an das Management

Hire/promote people based on their qualifications. Need more aggressive leadership, not more leadership. Invest in business development instead of buying your stocks back. Reduce your profit margins a point and get back some of the business you lost.

Ich arbeite bei Northrop Grumman ()

    Pros

Most people telecommute at least a few days a week. Quite a bit of leeway when choosing projects to get involved with.

    Kontras

    1. Incredibly old/conservative mentality of upper management. 2. No free coffee (really?) 3. If you do have to work in the office, you'll likely be stuck in a cube farm.
