    Casual environment and nice, down-to-earth people. Space to play games. Opportunities to advance if you're on the right team.

    No first-party game titles. Not enough Western content.

    Big office and plenty of space between desks. 401K matching.

    Kontras

    Office location requires Bart + bus to commute. Heavy traffic if drive to commute. Focus on publisher technologies, but not on game dev.

    Pros

    - Diverse and smart coworkers to work with.
    - Fun and great place to learn and use new technologies.
    - Exploring new ideas.

    Kontras

    To much disagreement between employees, that caused delays and sometimes poor deployments of products going into production environment.

    While definitely considering the overall business strategies and goals, make project decisions with the involvement of key players of all groups and knowing for sure that the key players also are in sync with his/her group.

    Pros

    - Team is like a family.
    - Vibe and culture is progressive and positive. Amazing to see the transformation since I've been here
    - Being in engineering is a transformational experience, learning and sharing lots with the engineers.
    - Prepare to be challenged with high expectations
    - Able to work on new and different systems all the time
    - All managers really invests in my growth and well-being
    - Tech group does a weekly gym bootcamp together weekly and movie quarterly
    - Boba at sprint reviews!
    - Company holiday party rocks...!

    Kontras

    - No equity
    - Lots of changing of company direction and size
    - Company outlook doesn't look great as the parent company keeps taking over
    - Caters food rarely

    Please keep up all the positive change. It's been amazing to see the growth and investement in culture and quality. Since the new teams have formed, a lot of best practices have helped me grow.

    Also, a lot of recent changes have some folks concerned about the future so would provide more updates more often.

    Comradely among employees, talented people (until majority either quit or got fired) A lot of good food nearby. Available parking

    Kontras

    Toxic atmosphere created by senior management (micromanagement, personal attacks and retaliation for speaking your mind). Group punishment of employees (never heard of “mandatory overtime” for entire software development group..
    The most incompetent getting promotions, while the most productive employees are pushed to leave the company or laid off arbitrary (layoffs followed by a hiring spree just a week later).

    Pros

    The majority of people are fantastic. You will find that you enjoy working here because of the friendships you quickly form.

    The pay is on the higher end but there are none of the customary perks so it sort of evens out.

    Kontras

    There's no business plan. No mission. The senior leaders are relatively inexperienced.

    The location is difficult for most to get to because it's not close to mass transit options.

    Be honest and stop trying to create the illusion that NxM is positioned for greatness. You'll get more respect for being transparent. Plus, you're not fooling anyone, everybody knows that the studio is starting to wind down.

    Pros

    If you love gaming, you'll fit right in. 401k match is definitely a plus. Many people who work there are actually very nice with a few bad apples in between . Overall, it's still a nice company just needs some improvements.

    Toxic culture. Unexperienced managers. People don't get promoted or rewarded fairly for their contributions. Many people left because the company doesn't value their current employees and always hires people from the outside into leadership roles.

    Pros

    There are some great people who work there who are industry veterans that can pass on great knowledge. I started off loving the people and team that I worked for.

    Kontras

    The only people getting promotions are men, I've seen women leave or be gradually forced out due to the heavy workload and politics. There isn't good growth for most employees and many departments don't have growth tracks. Upper management needs to improve their dialogue with the rest of the company and not sugar coat issues. It'd have been great to have them come to an all hands with plans on how things can be improved and fixed that all departments can act on. Nexon Korea is also flexing their power and starting to take over processes and influence games acquired, and I know that this has disheartened certain employees. There is also obvious favoritism from Leadership for certain departments over others.

    Work on your leadership skills. Even if the outlook isn't great, tell people and come at it with a plan on how you're going to improve things. Work on your diversity with who is hired into the company in all roles and levels. Make sure that you are hiring people who are knowledgable about video games and who have that shared passion as that is what will make the games and projects shine.
