Ich habe bei NAAFI gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Free accommodation, taxfree wages, alcohol, cigarettes, opportunity to serve the British Forces in different locations across the world, varied jobs throughout the company to learn from, plenty of opportunities to gain extensive knowledge of just about any customer service career

    Kontras

Accommodation can be really good or really bad depending on where you are based, very clicquey, training has lapsed severely over the years, difficult to get promoted

    Rat an das Management

The good old days were great, shame its coming to an end

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 8 Jahren bei NAAFI ()

    Pros

live in free on the camp where I work

    Kontras

Employ useless people as managers who are "friends" but cannot do ANYTHING. People who can do the job get passed over. Wages are bad- they bang on that we dont pay tax, but 39hours a week and open every day of the year gets you £13500. Staff include thieves, drunks an people who are in incestuous relationships - you couldn't make it up.

    Rat an das Management

Learn how to manage and stop picking on staff who work, instead of lazy drunks because they are youre friends.

Ich habe für mehr als 5 Jahre bei NAAFI gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

You get paid on time and arranging holiday time is easy. Apart from the reward you may feel from actively helping and providing a service for the British troops abroad, that's about it.

    Kontras

Management is useless. The general way of promotion does not reflect a persons hard work or relationship with the customers but, to word it politely, by how much you are willing to suck up to the management. I watched many hardworking and very competent staff overlooked for promotion for sometimes new inexperienced and unprofessional people who just happened to be related or married to another manager. The hard... workers they reward by giving the extra work caused by this new managements inability to do their job.

    Rat an das Management

Employ people who know how to do the job and reward them rather than overwork them. Then maybe you'll actually gain a decent reputation as a company.

    Pros

You go all around the world with the navy and get paid for it.

    Kontras

Away from family and friends far too much and for long periods. Work/home balance non existent. Living conditions not good, small space. Salary could be a little higher considering you hardly see your family and friends. Not a job if your married. if you're young free and single ok.

    Rat an das Management

Look after your employees and listen to what they are saying.

Ich habe weniger als ein Jahr bei NAAFI als gearbeitet

    Pros

The management in this company is great. There is an unbelivable amount of opportunities to progress your career or even just travel as part of your job. You get to meet some amazing people.

    Kontras

I worked with some not very nice people during my role.

Ich habe bei NAAFI gearbeitet ()

    Pros

Self fulfilment - devlop a 'can-do' attitude Possible with commitment to progress as far as you want to go Opportunity to visit parts of the world that are not usually on anyones to-do list

    Kontras

Very poor at listening to staff - pretend to do employee surveys and when they say it as it is scrap the process Every Operating Board Member thinks they have to rubbish whatever their predecessor did - and promise they'll improve things (which they rarely do)

    Rat an das Management

Stop thinking that you are the greatest gift to management and listen to the staff at all levels. Also stop the witch hunts - where you get rid of experience because it doesn't agree with you or your methods
